Getting to Know Me!

~ Posted on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 2:24 PM ~

This is my 1st GTKY post ever since I moved out of Blogger to my own self-hosted website. So, here goes this week's questions for you guys to know me a little bit more...

1. What is YOUR definition of sexy?

I'd have to say confidence.

2. Would you rather clean up puke or change a poopy diaper?
Done both. Not really grossed out with either.

Though one time I actually felt a bit grossed out cleaning up a puke... from my 1st niece. I'm not sure why I did the cleaning instead of her parents who just sat there looking at me cleaning and scrubbing the floor, but it was at my house and we're actually doing a birthday party for Ben, so I figured I gotta clean up the mess before the other kids get grossed out more! I think I'm grossed out at the fact that I'm cleaning puke when the parents should be the one doing it?

As for poop, when Ben started taking solids at 6 months old, I actually started a solid journal log, noting down what he ate everyday, whether he pooped that day, and whenever I can, I even took pictures of his poop. Somehow I felt that its good to do so, in case he felt sick and I need to show to the paed what he has been eating and what he has been pooping out. Still kept that journal. I'm OK with his puke, poop whatever... and I'm glad I have a good sense of humor when he got me into shitty situations like this:

(*Picture of Ben at 3 months old jet-spraying his poop on my lap)

3. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Definitely an introvert. Real shy upfront.. but I guess when you get to know me more, I'll open up and be extrovert.

4. If you had to give up one of your 5 senses for a year..which one would you give up?
Ermm.. how about hearing? At least people can still write and I can still read and reply back, right?

5. Cake or Pie?
Definitely cake!

6. If you could play any character on TV (old or current) who would you play?
Nothing I could think of for now. Have not been watching much TV anyway...

7. My favorite website is.....?
Erm... will it be too vain to say it would have to be my own website? Oh come on, I put in so much hardwork into getting my own domain, designing everything from scratch so I think it should be my favorite website!! Hehehe...

8. The highlight of my day is....?
When Ben takes his daytime naps or when he goes to sleep after 10m+. That's when I can get down to my own blogging and catching up on my friends' and relatives' updates in Facebook and stuff.

That's all for now! Thanks for reading!

A 16 month old Ben...

~ Posted on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 2:25 PM ~

Ben turned 16 months old yesterday and based on Baby Center's milestones for 16 months old toddler, I checked it against Ben and here are my observations:

Excerpts from Baby Center post:

"Your toddler is still likely to explore her surroundings the way she has for the last few months — grabbing random objects, inspecting them closely, putting them to her mouth, banging them on the floor. But you'll also notice that she likes to challenge her physical limits. She knows she can walk, so she wants to try to carry a heavy load, like a box of blocks, while she's at it. She's confident that she can climb up onto the sofa, so she'll want to push a chair to the kitchen counter to climb higher and investigate what's up on the counter tops. If you haven't already done so, now it is essential that you childproof your home. The kitchen can be a particularly dangerous spot, so get into the habit of cooking on the back burners of the stove, turning pot handles inward and out of reach of groping hands, and locking up any dangerous cleaning products and medicines rather than leaving them out in the open."

My observation: Hey, Ben doesn't need to wait til he turns 16 months old to have all this grand ambitions. He has been climbing stuff and getting real adventurous since he started walking at 1 year old! Just take a look at the pictures below:

Scary right? This is one of the pictures in my 'caused-heart-attack-to-mummy' album of all the pictures I took of Ben. He actually stood next to the table, climb onto our bed (mattress on the floor, we took off the bed frame when Ben started to crawl long ago) then leaned over to the table, pushed himself up, using his elbows and legs, he managed to crawl up and climb onto the table. My spiderboy! And picture below was taken few days ago during our church service on Sunday where Ben actually carried the ride-on toy himself...

Surprised

"Your 16-month-old is becoming more adept at using her hands and fingers. She may be able to stack two or three blocks into a tower, and will delight in immediately knocking it down. When you read books, she'll insist on turning the pages for you, and by now may be capable of turning one or two pages at a time instead of simply flipping from front to back. If you hand her a crayon, she'll know exactly what to do with it, but will probably scribble on anything that's in front of her — books, furniture, and walls included — so "coloring" is an activity that you'll probably want to monitor closely. She may even be able to insert a round block into the proper hole on a board with various shapes."

My observation: Every morning, Ben will hand carry (sometimes hug) the big bag containing 100 pieces of Mega Blocks over to our bed (Ben co-sleeps with us btw) and demanded one of us to play with him. So far, Ben can stack 1-2 blocks but then he is still at the stage of knocking things down.

And also sitting on the blocks that I built for him.

I have yet to get Ben to do coloring although he did enjoyed scrawling over the book and paper with color pencils when we were over at our friend's house few weeks ago to visit them and their daughter (about 2 months plus older than Ben).

"Your toddler is ready to learn to say "the magic words" — please and thank you — at least some of the time. You don't have to push him to say them in every instance — he's noticing when other people use them and the pleased reactions of grownups when children use them."

My observation: Oh well, Ben's vocabulary so far consists of 'papa', 'mama', 'nen-nen' (for my breastmilk), 'mam-mam' (for eating), 'ter-ter' (for water), 'tah-tah' (for dog), 'birh-birh' (for bird) and the rest are pretty much on hand signals and sign and body languages still. He does understand what we told and ask him to do. I guess it doesn't hurt to try saying and teaching him to say 'please' and 'thank you' even though he is not talking much yet.

Oh well, that's about it for now. I can't believe my little boy is 16 months old now! And did I mention that I'm still breastfeeding him? Cool

Family Outing in the Park...

~ Posted on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 3:30 PM ~

Few days ago, we started having our evening strolls at one of the playground cum park cum football field near our house, well, about 5 minutes walk from our house but we decided to drive there and then walk around the park since we're bringing the small market trolley to carry Ben around hehehe...

Picture below of Ben in the market trolley which MIL normally used when she does her marketing once in a while. It's clean, don't worry... and the 'wet' spot at the bottom in between Ben's legs are not his piss stains... hubby actually poured some of the organic lemon grass or some herbs concoction to prevent mosquito bites. In our place, there are a lot of mosquitoes when it's past 6pm+ so we came prepared even though we started our strolls at 5pm+.

Hubby left me with Ben and started his walking exercise, only to be stopped by a bunch of fallen tree brances and stuff, blocking the pathway. Picture below taken from afar where hubby along with an older man clearing up the fallen branches. There are a few other people standing near them but just looking and not helping Frown

Once the pathway was cleared, hubby and the old man continued their walk and they actually striked up conversations and throughout their walking exercise, they both were just walking alongside each other chatting non-stop!

So, since my hubby abandoned us, I pushed Ben in the trolley to the nicest looking seesaw and propped him on it. And then I just pushed the seesaw up and down, letting Ben have a feel of the seesaw.

Then I went to the nearby swing, sat on it and put Ben on my lap and started swinging... Ben seems to enjoy it cos he just sits quietly and looked at the view around. It's kinda painful for me cos the swing seat was a bit too small for me but it's better than nothing...

And this is the view right in front of us... who can resist it??!! So, I stop the swing and walked with Ben slowly to the playground. That's like 15 feet from the swing.

Ben immediately climbed onto the platform and started flipping the Tic-tac-toe game...

And the opposite of the Tic-tac-toe game was this blue capsule window which Ben immediately slammed his hands over it... guessed he was intrigued with the blue color window and the fact that I looked blue over the other side hahaha...

Then I noticed this guy walking out of the park... he actually carried his cat and was previously walking his cat in the park! Cool! First time I see someone walking their cat instead of a dog!

After a while, I was tired (have to watch Ben like a hawk cos he was really active, moving and running around)  so, I took him to the badminton court at the side of the park and let Ben drinks and rest while I tried to flag hubby to stop and go home.

The sky was getting dark (almost 7pm) so we decided to head home. All in all, it was a nice family outing in the park for us... a first to many many more to come! Cool
