Our Experience in Catering Services

~ Posted on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 4:15 PM ~

In this post, I would like to share our experience in hiring catering services. We hired a caterer (different companies) for both our kids' baby fullmoon parties, that's when they turned 1 month old.

In my opinion, it is easier to hire a caterer to handle the food and beverages aspect and even the setup of the venue of an event. Imagine having to entertain your family members and guests and also needing to take care of your baby at the same time. Having to worry about the food and beverages aspect at this point is simply too much to handle.

I remembered during our kids' fullmoon parties, the caterer came few days earlier to setup the canopy at our house porch, tables, chairs and fans, all nicely decorated with the appropriate color theme. On the day itself, just a few hours before our party begins, the caterer came and started arranging the food and setup the beverages machine and also stationed a few of their staff to assist our guests.

I think a good caterer is when:

* Food and beverages are of good quality and freshness. During Benjamin's fullmoon party, our guests rave about the delicious food and one of the dish (boxing chicken dish) is so good that they are snapped up when the party begins! I can't share with you how delicious it is because I never get to taste it... sob, sob...

* Service rendered by their staff is good. I have attended parties where the catering staff regularly walk around and ensure guests are enjoying the food and drinks and making sure the beverages are constantly refilled. Just recently I have attended a baby fullmoon party where the beverages ran out in few hours. No refill, no replacement of beverages. I was quite annoyed at this as I stood right in front of the beverage machine holding an empty paper cup after being told by the catering staff that the drinks (soymilk to be precise) are all gone.

* Used cutleries are constantly cleared away and tables are cleaned after guests used them. I think this shows professionalism in the catering company to be able to handle all these.

Do you have any experience in catering service?

I received a peculiar box yesterday with a big labelling at the opening, telling me to sniff before I open. At the first whiff, I can smell a nice floral scent and when I opened up the box and looked at the contents, I was pleasantly surprised at what's inside.

So ladies and gentlemen, read on to find out why my bathroom will never be the same again, all thanks to "Kleenex® Ultra Soft Fresh":

Have I mentioned how thrilled I am to be able to review the first ever natural fresh scented toilet paper in Malaysia made by Kleenex, a super well-known facial tissue brand in the world?!

Now back to my review, firstly the scent is so refreshing and relaxing, not at all overwhelming like some fragrant products we put in our bathroom.

FYI, the criteria we looked at when we buy toilet papers are: it must be thick (3 ply), compact, soft to the touch and the distance between the toilet roll in the centre to the first layer of the toilet paper must be thick (more quantity!). All are fulfilled by the "Kleenex® Ultra Soft Fresh"!

My 3 years old boy can't resist and started tearing the toilet paper (boys!) and before I could stopped him from destroying and wasting the toilet paper, I watched his face turned from mischief into frustration and finally wonder.

Mischief because yes, he planned to destroy the toilet paper,

Frustration because he couldn't tear it despite several attempts (these 3 plys are really strong!) and

Wonder when he realised how strong the toilet papers are!

I also asked him to smell the toilet paper and he went 'Hmm.. nice!' - words from innocent child! Better believe it!

So yes, I have proceeded to distribute the toilet rolls I received for my review, 1 given to my MIL, 1 to my hubby which he put in his office toilet and 1 which I put in our bathroom. Within an hour or so (sorry didn't monitor the exact time), my bathroom smells soooooooooooooooooooooo nice!

I keep finding excuses to use the bathroom now just to enjoy the nice aromatic scent... ahhhhhhhh.... and of course, they are very soft to the touch! What a pleasant experience to be able to review these awesome products!

Virgin Coconut Oil

~ Posted on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 7:05 AM ~

Started taking virgin coconut oil (VCO) on the 7th Sept 2012. Have been reading quite a number of feedback by mothers in a breastfeeding group I used to join in and decided to buy one bottle of it when I made my first purchase via iHerb.

You can Google yourself on the benefits on VCO if you want to know more. The first time I took it, it just stays in my mouth, I dare not move at all and just let the oil remain in my mouth. I was hesitating, should I gargle? Swirl it around my mouth? Use my tongue and flick it something? In the end, I just swallowed it in a gulp. The aftertaste? A sweet smelling and tasting oil in my mouth. Bearable. No gagging reflex which I feared. OK, one giant step for me.

I'm currently taking 1 tablespoon right after my breakfast. Hopefully can see some (well, any!) results.

Do you take VCO? What benefits do you noticed?
