Virgin Coconut Oil

~ Posted on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 7:05 AM ~

Started taking virgin coconut oil (VCO) on the 7th Sept 2012. Have been reading quite a number of feedback by mothers in a breastfeeding group I used to join in and decided to buy one bottle of it when I made my first purchase via iHerb.

You can Google yourself on the benefits on VCO if you want to know more. The first time I took it, it just stays in my mouth, I dare not move at all and just let the oil remain in my mouth. I was hesitating, should I gargle? Swirl it around my mouth? Use my tongue and flick it something? In the end, I just swallowed it in a gulp. The aftertaste? A sweet smelling and tasting oil in my mouth. Bearable. No gagging reflex which I feared. OK, one giant step for me.

I'm currently taking 1 tablespoon right after my breakfast. Hopefully can see some (well, any!) results.

Do you take VCO? What benefits do you noticed?

I didn't know of this until now. Besides good for breastfeeding, what other benefits for consuming it. I will Google it later. Thanks for sharing

Hi Aries!
Apparently it's good for a lot of things, can be used for hair tonic, cooking (healthier) and much more!

Hi Nicole!
Yeah, I've not been the type to take all this supplements, seriously! And so far, since writing this post, I only taken the VCO twice Tong Keep forgetting to take it! Arghhh...

Hey Jani!
Yes, but if you can't stomach the idea of swallowing the oil, then you can use it for cooking, mix to your drinks or food also can! Smile

I am taking virgin coconut oil as well. I sometimes add it in my milk or sometimes the coconut milk. Indeed, there's no awful after taste. All you can distinguish is its sweet scent and taste in your mouth. I love it, actually Smile

Hi Mummy, I'm doing my research now on VCO as i heard and read up many of comments saying that VCO is good for LO and I would want to give a try to buy it for my LO. Are you still taking this Nutiva VCO? I'm placing my order from iHerb, so would like to get you input on this. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!

Hi Mandy!
My bottle of VCO is still there. I didn't continue taking it but that's my fault cos I am really forgetful!!! Keep forgetting to take it! Yes, I do read alot of mummies giving their LOs VCO Smile

Hi Jenny,

I think i can't choose freebies in order to use the discount code as I tried to sign up another new account, i did the same first put in your discount code then continue with my shopping. But once I've added in my freebies, the discount gone and no way for me to add in back. So, now i think i will proceed with my order as i got $5 off (better than nothing). Smile
