Just want to share a recent incident where I helped alert one of my loyal blog and FB follower. One fine day, I received an email from this follower of mine. I remembered her email address as she has recently won one of my giveaways and I constantly see her email address too since I approve each and every comments I get on my blog posts.

So anyway, I received an email with the following content (please note I have changed the person's name to Miss ABC to protect her identity):

Subject: Horrible Vacation Trip...........
Miss ABC

Hi, I'm writing this with great grievance . I'm presently in Manila,Philippines with my Family for a short vacation and we're stuck...And really it was unannounced. We were attacked by four armed robbers on our way back to the hotel where we lodged.we were robbed and completely embarrassed.

All our cash, credit cards and cellphone were stolen. We've reported the incident to the embassy and the Police but to my dismay they seem not bothered...their response was just too casual. Our flight leaves in few hours but We've got to settle our bills before We're allowed to leave....Now am freaked out....Please I need you to loan some money, All i need is $1,600 I promise to refund you as soon as I'm back home.. . Please Let me know what you can do?Write me back so I can tell you how to get it to me..

Thanks

Miss ABC

Now, my first thought was "If she has been robbed, will she still have time to login to her email and send this to me? Plus, yes, I have been really generous and often go out of my way by footing the delivery charges whenever I host giveaways for Malaysian nailing address but asking me to send over $1600 to her?"

Alert! Alert! Alert!

Like I mentioned before, she's lucky for regularly liking and even commenting on my Facebook page updates, so I was able to send a direct message to her via Facebook to let her know that her Gmail account has been compromised.

I definitely dare not reply her email, who knows the hacker might still be using her email address which is why I contacted her on FB instead. She immediately replied me n FB saying her data has been wiped and asked what can she do. I can only advised her to changer her password and to not login to check her emails from public places, other than that I can't help further.

Have you experienced your email account being hacked before and what do you do?

** Btw, this is definitely NOT an invitation or request for you to frequently like my FB status though I do want you to join my giveaways (cos' hey, I try hard to negotiate with the sponsors for giveaway opportunities to you guys), my point for writing this post is I just want to highlight this incident as a good-to-know case for you guys!

Blog Tips: Getting Products to Review

~ Posted on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 8:02 AM ~

I have received a number of emails and comments from my followers asking how I get to review products and apps so I decided to list down my tips and post it (maybe weekly?) to share my experience and tips. Feel free to drop me an email or comment if you want to find out more or anything else.

Last week, I shared my second tip in getting products to review, which is SNOOP AROUND! Here goes my third tip:

TWITTER & FACEBOOK!

Yes, amongst the gazillions Tweets and updates popping every seconds, you can still find treasure (in this case product reviews) in it!

Now what you need to do:

  • Make sure you have a Twitter and Facebook accounts (well, you can still see Tweets or Facebook updates if you don't have a Twitter and Facebook accounts but it is better if you have an account so that potential sponsors can contact you back!
  • For Twitter, look out for keywords like 'product for reviews' or 'looking for bloggers' etc. If you see any Tweets of review pitches, reply the Tweet and let them know you are interested! I have personally received a lot of products to review just by searching via Twitter!
  • For Facebook, watch out for reviews posted or pictures tagged etc on other bloggers' fanpages! You'll be surprised I actually get products to review from Facebook too!
  • Btw, do you know I sometimes shared out review and/or giveaway opps on my Facebook page too? So yes, don't forget to follow my Facebook page too!

There you go, my 3rd blog tips on getting products to review.

Try it yourself and let me know the outcome!

Stay tuned for my next blog tips next week!

** P.S: Please note that it is always better if your blog has good following and good PR rank as these factors help a lot when you request for a product to review.

Last week, I shared my first tip in getting products to review, which is JUST ASK! Here goes my second tip:

SNOOP AROUND!

Now what you need to do:

  • Yes, snoop around! Browse around the Internet - look out for other bloggers websites, preferably those that does lots of reviews!
  • See what products they are reviewing.
  • You can also check out their 'REVIEWS' tab or archive posts to get more information.
  • Another way is to check out the sidebar of those big/popular blogs as these bloggers normally put up badges of being affiliated with or a member of some companies where they are reviewing the products from.
  • You can then check out the company or sponsors of the products being reviewed by these bloggers and email to ask for an opportunity to review their products. This then leads to my previous tip #1 which is JUST ASK!

I know of some bloggers who are following my blog who did the above as I can see after my review post was published, they too get to review the same product, so yes, I know you snooped around my blog! Hahaha...

So there you go, my 2nd blog tips on getting products to review.

Try it yourself and let me know the outcome! Stay tuned for my next blog tips next week!

** P.S: Please note that it is always better if your blog has good following and good PR rank as these factors help a lot when you request for a product to review.
