The Wonder of a Child's Curiosity & Imagination...

~ Posted on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 8:35 AM ~

I was replying to Uncle Lee, one of my regular blog reader's comment on my iPad app review post about Ben's toys which he had quite a lot, but mostly those are hand-me-downs from our brother and sister in laws and presents from relatives and friends during his birthdays. We do buy him some toys but only on memorable occasions.

And it prompted me to post up pictures (quite recent) taken of Ben recently, playing with one of his newest 'toy'... the SHOE BOX! I think kids imagination is a powerful thing, even with a simple shoe box, Ben could be playing with it for sometime!

Curious Child
Despite the toys around him, he spent quite a long time checking out the shoe box...

Curious Child
Ben checking out the holes on the sides of the shoe box...

Curious Child
Now checking out how big is the shoe box (he later used it to store his toy cars)

Curious Child
Back to checking out the sides...

Curious Child
And closing the shoe box now...

I'm amazed at how a simple shoe box can keep him occupied and entertained for some time.  He used the shoe box to store  (park) his toy cars and later on pretended it was a garage where he opens and closes the 'door' cover and park his toy cars in it.

Goes to show the great wonders of a child's curiosity and imagination! With that in mind, I leave you with these few inspiring quotes to ponder on:

* I think, at a child's birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift should be curiosity. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

* When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.  ~ Walt Disney

* Seize the moment of excited curiosity on any subject to solve your doubts; for if you let it pass, the desire may never return, and you may remain in ignorance. ~ William Wirt

It's true, the baby's curiosity amazes me.

Haha...he's so cute there examining the box! Some more the face so serious. Yes, kids have the most amazing imagination until they become adults and lose all the imagination.

He is a very curious boy indeed!

That is so fun!!  It's amazing what non-tech *toys* kids end up playing with!  Sophie and Bella are enthralled with bungee cords at the moment.  The things that they come up with are quite ingenuis, if I do say so!

He so precious!! I love how my daughter loves boxes SOO much, too. She'll stick her little animals in there and put little blankets on them. They love packaging more than the toys that come in it. *sigh*

My boys always loved cardboard boxes.  And belts...They would tie them around their head or use them as slings...I swear they could make anything out of a belt and a box or piece of fabric!  Kind of like Macguyver!

When young child works his curiosity we should let them discover the things around them but with our supervision for their safety.
