Sigh... what to do when your child has potty mouth?
Lately, my 3 years old boy has started saying these words: "STUPID ANT"
I realised he learned this from my MIL. You see, sometimes there are ants crawling around in our kitchen and during the initial stage, my MIL will kill the ants by either wiping them away with a damp cloth or pressing the ants with fingers or stepping on them with her feet.
Then Ben started observing. And listening.
And my MIL while killing the ants, will say 'Stupid ants! See Ben, see all these stupid ants!'
And now he says out what he learned and observed all these time.
Sigh... I am trying hard to 'wash off' these potty words from my 3 years old's mouth.
But the more we tell him not to say it, the more he thinks it is funny that we are annoyed (and angry) and the more he says it back.
So I'm now trying to ignore him when he says it. At the moment, when he notices me ignoring him (as if I didn't hear him), he repeated the words LOUDER and LOUDER. After a few attempts, he will go on with his playing and activities and forget about it.
Okay, at least my boy did not say any vulgar words but to me, the word 'stupid' is bad manners enough and I feel embarrassed with that word already.
