Product Review - GuitarMoose Guitar Picks

~ Posted on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 11:51 PM ~

Few months ago, I stumbled upon this tweet message by GuitarMoose looking for bloggers to review their guitar picks and I thought of my husband, who loves playing guitar, so I replied them asking whether they are OK with international bloggers, and after a few emails between us, I received a guitar pick for our review! So here goes my review for the "GuitarMoose Guitar Picks":

Description from the product page:
"GuitarMoose guitar picks are made in the USA by hand in small batches and hand edged for superior sound and playability. We put our heart and soul into each product we make and offer the highest of quality. Our guitar picks are great for any skill level, from the beginner to the experienced professional. We specialize in non-slip guitar picks. Others have a cat tongue, drill holes or are coated with sand paper, but those surfaces are not very comfortable on your fingers or skin after long periods of playing. Our foam gripped guitar picks are the best non-slip, tension reducing guitar picks on the market today. They will allow you to play for longer periods of time and won't slip or twist in your hand when playing."

I received the 0.5mm Stickygrip non-slip guitar pick in bright orange color. To be honest, I would prefer a less subtle color like white or cream color instead of the neon orange color, but that was just my personal preferance.

From the pictures below, you can see how thin is the guitar pick, the orangey surface feels non-slip, foam material to be exact and they do stick easily on our fingers and even on our guitar! Both sides of the guitar pick is padded, hence making it easy for you to grip onto it. And because of the foam material, holding the guitar pick will not leave a sticky feel or residue.

Pictures below taken of my hubby playing his guitar with our 2 children dancing along. At the bottom right of the picture you can even see the pick being stick on his guitar. That was how strong and non-slip the grip is of the guitar pick! I think this is awesome as it will ensure no more missing guitar picks! My hubby commented that the guitar pick is light and easy to use while playing his guitar.

iPad App Review - Hattie, The Backstage Bat

~ Posted on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11:41 AM ~

Although my 3.5 years old boy is into spooky stuff at the moment, I was a bit apprehensive initially to review this app as I have not introduce bat (pictures or real life) to him yet (oh wait, does Batman counts?) but decided to go with it after seeing the screenshots of the app and reading the storyline. Anyway, my review as below...

I'm a full-time mummy

Description from the product page:

"When a new play opens at the Lyceum Theatre, Hattie, the caretaker's pet bat, has to hide while the actors are rehearsing. In order not to scare anyone, the little bat who lived backstage stayed out of sight until opening night of the new mystery play. But as the play opens, she can't resist the chance to join in the fun--and make a grand entrance as the play's new star. Hattie, The Backstage Bat is a part of the Auracle line from Auryn Inc. and is based on Don Freeman’s book by the same name."

* It is engaging and interactive and I love the navigation features (Home button at top right corner and Pages at bottom page)

* The illustrations on each page is simply breathtakingly beautiful!

* To be honest, my 3.5 years old boy ran off to play with his toys after seeing the first 2 pages of this app. I think the lack of colors in this app bores him. So I was left there to continue reviewing this app myself.

* Storyline wise is good as it tells about Hattie the bat that decided to join in the fun on a stage play and end up being one of the star of the show.

Product Review - VeggieTales: Little Ones Can Do Big Things Too!

~ Posted on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 8:10 AM ~

This is my 4th VeggieTales DVD review after "The Penniless Princess - God’s Little Girl", "God Loves You Very Much" and "If I Sang a Silly Song". We are a big fan of VeggieTales after the first 3 DVDs (and I also bought another DVD from our church bookstore as well, so yeah, we are a fan!) Anyway, here is my review:

I'm a full-time mummy

DVD synopsis:

"Featuring favorite Veggie shows, including: Pistachio: The Little Boy Who Woodn't (A Lesson in Listening to Your Parents), Lyle the Kindly Viking (A Lesson in Kindness) and Dave & The Giant Pickle (A Lesson in Self-Esteem), all with a message of how you don't have to be big to be able to do great things! Plus all new footage from the adorable Veggie Kids!"

One of Ben's favorite episodes in this DVD has got to be "Dave & The Giant Pickle (A Lesson in Self-Esteem)" - it follows the story of David and Goliath so Ben is pretty much aware of the storyline and I use the opportunity to remind him that it does not matter whether we are small size or tiny, as long as we have confidence and faith that God will protect us and that God is with us, everything can be achievable! Because of this, we have noticed Ben's confidence soared lately, when he is afraid or nervous of something, he tell us 'I am not scared! God will protect me!' Awwwwww...

In summary, I like the lessons to be learned, to be respectful, kind and brave and confident even though your opponent or obstacles seems too big or hard to handle. The songs in the DVD are catchy and cute as well and yes, we danced along to it too!

A fun, educational and entertaining DVD that is a must to have!
