iPad App Review - Witzy’s Friends Forever

~ Posted on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 9:32 PM ~

I received a pitch to review this app early this month, as we were slowly transitioning our 3.5 years old boy to be by himself in his Sunday schools (1.5 hours) so I thought there might be something I could use to teach my boy on friendship and making friends. Anyway, my review as below...

* It is engaging and interactive and I love the beautiful illustrations! It actually reminds me of my childhood when Care Bears was a craze then!

* I like the storyline where it tells how Witzy go through his journey for everlasting friendship with his friends.

* There is a cute game which you can play along while you go through the story app where you look for 'Tickles' (I actually realised it is ladybug we are supposed to be looking for... was wondering what could be Tickles in this story initially until I re-read the story again and saw the front cover of the story app showing a ladybug!)

iPad App Review - Trains

~ Posted on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 11:05 AM ~

When I saw the press release of this app from Oceanhouse Media, I immediately requested for a promo code to review it as I have previously reviewed the 'Planes', 'Boats' and 'Trucks' version with Ben recently and we loved it! To be honest, the first time I reviewed these Byron Barton app, I was already looking forward to seeing the 'Trains' version! Anyway, my review as below...

* It is engaging and interactive and I love that we can also touch the objects in each page on the screen and the words pop out to tell you what it is!

* I like that we can move the objects on each page! It gives you a sense of control and being imaginative to move the objects around!

* There are some pages with beautiful illustrations that caught my boy's attention, such as the one below where the train moves through the night and the light shining brightly in front of the train reminded him of his torchlight (which he loves playing with at the moment)

* I used the opportunity to teach my 3.5 years old boy using the page below on the importance of taking and waiting for our turns. That everybody must be patient and give way to others.

* In summary, another great app that is fun and entertaining especially if your kids are into trains!

Slowly Putting Up The Pieces...

~ Posted on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 8:43 AM ~

I am a big fan of jigsaw puzzles. But I've not been touching any jigsaw puzzles since I have children. That would be almost 4 years.

Memories of my childhood solving jigsaw puzzles came flooding back. I took less than 2 hours (uninterrupted) back when I was 15 years old to solve a 500 pieces puzzle. I don't recall doing more than 500 pieces puzzle.

The warmest memories I have is the moment I completed my jigsaw puzzles, I will glue the pieces onto a manila cardboard and my dad will bring it to a nearby photoframe shop and got it frame and then helped me hang it in our house. It feels so good seeing the completed puzzle being framed up nicely and being part of the house decoration.

So yeah, back to present time. After a family dinner recently, I saw a jigsaw puzzle shop and hurried off to check it out. And voila, I saw this 1000 mini pieces jigsaw puzzle of a beautiful nightview of the Hong Kong city. When I saw this mini jigsaw puzzle box (even mentioned 'The world's smallest jigsaw puzzle') I was hooked.

I love Hong Kong. Was there almost a decade ago for company trip and really enjoyed myself there. My first overseas company trip! Needless to say, I immediately grabbed the one remaining puzzle and bought it.

As a SAHM of 2 children (teaching my 3.5 years old boy and trying to get my 14 months old girl to remain still and not get into any mischief), it is really taking a long long long long time for me to do the puzzle. I have to wait till both kids are asleep, that I am not rushing any paperworks for my hubby's business or I'm not rushing out any blog posts or reviews just to get a little bit time to do the puzzles.

As of now, I am only able to get 1 of the sides completed. Slow and steady, hopefully I get to finish it soon! Wish me luck!
