Seeing Through The Eyes Of Our Children...

~ Posted on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 6:04 AM ~

Just the other day, I was rushing some invoicing work for my hubby and let my 3.5 years old boy played with his Lego blocks by himself. My 13 months old girl was napping at that time. Then my boy called me to check out his star Lego. I walked over and stood and can't see it. Had to stand for a while until I saw it.

Yup... that's a star alright!

Amazing right what our child can see in their own eyes and understanding? And few days later, he was playing with the bead shapes/blocks and told me he made a turtle. To be honest, it took me a few minutes before I am able to see it!

Awesome or what?! I am just so freaking proud with what my boy did! So so so amazing!

So, yeah, what I'm trying to say in this post is,

Learn to see through your child's eyes!

Do not underestimate their imagination and creativity.

Never look down or brush away their discoveries!

Just my 2 cents... That's all the updates I can share for now, feel free to ask and share if you have feedback!

Soldier, Soldier!

I think it was last year that hubby bought this set of small green colored plastic soldiers for Benjamin to play with but he's not very into it. Then few months ago, hubby's 1st sister passed on a few bags of toys from her kids and one of the bag contains more soldier toys, with different colors as well! And there's even astronaut set, dinosaur set and a couple of ninjas as well. For sometime Ben was enjoying the ninja pieces all thanks to Lego Ninjago coming out then.

I used to try teaching Ben to sort them by the colors, even arranging them in a line but he's not interested until I saw him doing this last week:

Soldier

I was pleasantly surprised to see him arranging all the astronaut set and then I also noticed him using his right hand to swipe down this set of yellow colored soldiers on his right. If you see the picture below, you will noticed the set of green colored toys which I arranged myself prior to discovering Ben following me later on. There are also some dinosaur toys on the grey colored plastic covers (which I told Ben it is a cage to keep all the dinosaur in)

Soldier

Ben said 'Attack!' and he also said the soldiers all fall down already, need to send to hospital. Oh-kayyyy....

Soldier

And then I noticed something else over the left side of our playroom. A green colored bridge neatly placed in between 2 storage boxes (We had 3 boxes to store different type of toys in the playroom: soldier toys, car toys and wooden blocks) There's a ninja toy stuck hanging in the bridge and when I asked Ben why is the ninja hanging there, he said, need to rescue ninja because he is hanging there.

Oh boy... what an imagination and pretend play! So anyway, I used to be worried that Ben is not learning anything I'm trying to teach him but turns out, things happened on its own time.

We as parents just do our best to teach and when the time is right, you just sit back and see it happens. You see your child showing you what you taught them or even casually mentioning to them somethings long ago and you will be amazed that they are really listening even though they don't seem to be paying attention during then.

Hang In There...

"Hang in there"

These are the words that pulled me through the day...

Yes, I cried and there are times I wished I could die...

It started out on Tuesday night around 11pm when I felt some pains on and off on my joint and muscles... impending flu coming and I also get nose blocked and runny nose as well.

The next day when I woke up, I was tired and decided no teaching kiddos for the day. I just need to rest and I let my kids watched TV (Toy Story, Doraemon movies) I made oats for my kids for breakfast and had some bread for myself.

Lunch time came and I fed my boy tuna with oat biscuits while my girl had the oat biscuits only (she doesn't like tuna) and then my boy vomited. All over the kitchen floor.

I'm trying hard to pull myself together while I wipe the floor as my boy stood crying at the mess.

Once clean, I brought them upstairs, rest on my bed with my kids and my boy vomited again on our bed. I did what I could, cupped the vomit with my 2 hands, but it just come and come and overflows and I couldn't get up on time and there's no way I could open the bathroom door (which is closed at all times) so I did what I could only think of,

I flung the vomit on the floor. Away from the bed.

Sigh... then I cleaned myself, my boy, put my girl in the playpen, mopped the floor and changed the bedsheet.

Googled around for what to give for upset tummy and after vomit incidents in kids and gave my kids some yogurt and rice crackers.

My boy napped after that folloewd by my girl. And I finally managed to get about half hour rest before my #$&^%&^ neighbor continued their drilling again (they are renovating their house)

My hubby got home around 6pm and he said we should bring our boy to see our family doctor. Then Ben told me he wants to vomit and I quickly brought him to our bathroom sink and he vomited again. We got ready and left our girl with my mother in law to feed her dinner.

After the clinic visit, we got back home, made a little bit oats with a bit sugar inside (for energy) Ben had some and told me he wants to burp...

and he vomited.

Total 4 times now for the day.

This time hubby cleaned, wiped and mopped the floor. I didn't put Ben's potty close enough to catch the vomit but then I didn't expect he will vomit when he says he wants to burp.

Sigh...

In the end, hubby said give Ben a lollipop and immediately Ben perks up and we can immediately see the change in him. A little more energy and back to his usual chirpy self.

LOLLIPOP.

And also, at one point Ben told me he doesn't have stomach ache anymore because God protects him.

Hang in there...

Thank you God for your protection over our family.
