Preparing Baby Solids - Pumpkin Puree

One of my Facebook follower asked me to blog about how I prepare the solids for my girl when I posted pictures of my kids' meals on my Facebook page. So here it goes the tutorial for Pumpkin Puree:

** Personal Note:

I normally cut the pumpkin to half and steam it on different batches (and each batch lasts about 2-3 days). With my 1st child, I actually use the entire pumpkin and steam it and store everything but it takes a long time to finish up so nowadays with my 2nd child, I prefer to use half instead and steam enough storage for 2-3 days so I could switched to other veggies after that and then switched back to pumpkin.

To prepare this, what I normally do is cut the pumpkin into half, then by slices about 1 inch thick and remove the seeds and skins. Then I will cubed them into 1 inch cubes and wash it with boiled room temperature water and steam them for about 20 minutes or until they are soft (I poked one of the pumpkin cubes using fork or chopstick. If they go through and soft to the touch, it's ready).

With pumpkin, I don't blend it further as I normally steam until they are soft. Serve or store the rest in freezer/fridge (for lesser quantity). If you noticed my picture, I also steamed the pumpkin together with the carrots, peas and corns, to save time! :)

Preparing Baby Solids - Carrots, Corn & Green Peas Puree

One of my Facebook follower asked me to blog about how I prepare the solids for my girl when I posted pictures of my kids' meals on my Facebook page. So here it goes the tutorial for Carrots Corn & Green Peas Puree:

** Personal Note: Take the amount of Carrots, Corn & Green Peas you wanted and steam them for about 10-15 minutes or until the veggies are soft (I gauged using the carrots). After that, blend to the consistency you wanted and serve or store in freezer.

When I prepared this for Ben 2 years ago, I actually peeled off the skins of the green peas after steaming! Am not sure whether it's good to do that or not but I'm not doing this anymore with Alyson now... too lazy and tiring to do this I guess!

Hope the above tutorial helps! Feel free to ask questions or share your feedback/experiences!

Preparing Baby Solids - Banana Puree

~ Posted on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 8:42 AM ~

One of my Facebook follower asked me to blog about how I prepare the solids for my girl when I posted pictures of my kids' meals on my Facebook page. So here it goes the tutorial for banana puree:

** Personal Note: Just choose 1 (for start) small ripe banana, peel off the skin, cut into thin slices. I normally use a small spoon to mash the banana and mix with my breastmilk which I hand expressed on the spot. You can opt to not add in the breastmilk and serve the mashed up banana as it is but I prefer to thin up the mashed banana with my breastmilk for now.

Hope the above tutorial helps! Feel free to ask questions or share your feedback/experiences!
