Teaching & Learning Moment - Sweeping

~ Posted on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 7:16 AM ~

I recently bought this small little dustpan thingy via eBay (it's about USD1.28 including shipping to Malaysia) and I personally feel it is a cute and neat trick to get our kiddos to be involved in a bit of house chores as well. It is just the right size for their tiny fingers and small hands, perfect for them to maneuver around.

Teaching & Learning Moment

Now why this falls into the 'Teaching & Learning Moments!'?

* I get to teach our kiddos about responsibilities - clean up after making a mess.

* I get to teach our kiddos to practise their motor skills and dexterity - to sweep and aim the dust/rubbish into the pan.

* I don't need to lug the vacuum cleaner or bring in the big broom and dustpan into the room to sweep up minor mess.

Win-win!

Being a Mum... It Is Worth It....

I received a Mother's Day gift from our 6 years old boy earlier today after picking him up from his kindy. It was one of his kindy activity for the coming Mother's Day celebration, I thanked our dear boy and gently opened up the envelope he gave me.

Being a Mum

I do love to eat spicy stuff, so it was real cute seeing what he wrote and drew when it comes to his mummy's favorite food heheheh...

Being a Mum

Awww... tears started welling up as I read on what he wrote and drew... sob, sob...

Being a Mum

It's been 6 years since I quit my IT job to be a stay-at-home mum.

Is it worth it?

You bet! :)

Happy Mother's Day to all of you - everyday is our day :)

Sewing Project - Hand Towel

~ Posted on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 6:56 AM ~

I bought my first ever sewing macchine in April 2015, the Global Sewing Machine GSM-505. The first thing I tried to do using the sewing machine was to repair my hubby's torn pants and jeans, followed by my diaper bag and our toddler's rompers.

A few months earlier, I bought some bath towels and face towels in preparation to DIY something for our kiddos. I made the 1st one by hand and then I put the project on hold as I realised it would be so much better if done using a sewing machine and then I realised, I needed to learn some sewing skills!

So anyway, more on that project later. For this post, I'm just sharing my 1st mini sewing project, which is hand towels!

Sewing Project - Hand Towel

I have some remaining cloths from the face towel and decided to stitch up one end of it with color-coordinated ribbons as a hanger/hook. A very simple sewing project that gets me motivated to move on to tougher projects. From this mini project, I get to works out the kinks in my new sewing machine, how to thread faster, tried out different types of stitches, build up my sewing confidence and overcome my fear of using the sewing machine and more.

To end my post, I am very happy with my first mini project and hope to do more sewing stuff when time permits!
