Tiring Thursday!

~ Posted on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 1:50 AM ~

Phewww... what a day!!

Ben is particularly active today, refused to take his daytime nap until it was about 2 hours past his usual nap time hours... causing me to think of more activities to tire him out.

Ben with Elmo and Cookie Monster

Ben answering phone

Ben reading book

From L to R:

* Ben stacking up the Mega Bloks while sitting in the storage box with Elmo & Cookie Monster

* Ben answering phone calls (seems urgent and very confidential)

* Ben checking out the new book mummy received for review under Booksneeze program.

After Ben had his naptime for about 2 hours (about 5pm+ by the time he woke up from his nap), we spent some time checking out this new book that I received from Booksneeze to review (*stay tuned for the review sometime in the 1st week of September) then I peeked out at the balcony and saw the most beautiful sunset outside and decided to spend a short while playing with Ben at the balcony.

Just look at the glorious sunset view... Wouldn't it be a waste if we don't enjoy it right?

Ben intrigued with the balcony light

Ben trying to spray the balcony light with water

Ben spraying water at mummy

From L to R:

* Ben pointing at the balcony light, obviously very intrigued with it since it's his 1st time seeing the balcony light.

* Ben trying to spray water at the balcony light.

* Realising he couldn't spray the balcony light, he turns his target to ME. Sorry for the blurry picture cos I was trying to avoid from being sprayed!

After the brief playing at the balcony, I bathed Ben and then we went downstairs, I proceeded to make Ben's dinner while he spends some time with his grandma.

Ben's dinner

Ben's dinner!

Top portion:

* 1.5oz of mashed pumpkin (steamed)

* 2oz of mashed potatoes

* 2oz of fish - shredded & ensured no bones

Bottom portion:

* Soft rice enough to cover (about 6tbsp)

* 1oz sliced carrots (steamed)

After dinner, Ben also had a few bites of durian... Then we played again in the room, this time daddy joining in after a hectic day of rushing a project for his client.

And Ben finally goes to his dreamland at 11pm+... quite late for his usual sleeping hours.. but it's because he doesn't get to spend much time with daddy today so he's trying to stay up as long as he could... :P

So there you have it... a tiring Thursday for mummy and Ben...

What do you do when you want to tire out your child? (Heheheh...)

Since I've become a "temp SAHM" (aka unemployed & looking for work) I have found naptime to be VERY difficult.  At daycare, my son went down easily - but there were also 10 other kids going to sleep at same time and it was routine.  Now - here at home - in 2 weeks - we have gotten only 3 days with naps the rest without.  It's been tough - and no good suggestions.  (I also think Cash is getting a bit older & not needing the nap as much.)

I just joined BookSneeze too!  I'm really excited about getting my first book!

Hope tomorrow is a better nap day for you guys!  But that Ben - he is such a cutie!!

Hi Katie!
I think it takes a bit of getting used to for Cash to nap, especially when he's home and gets to spend time with you more often, like you said, being at daycare is routine for him to be doing specific tasks and he has other friends as well, so probably easier for him to nap.

Booksneeze is great! I've done quite a number of book reviews with them and currently waiting for 3 more (I just love to read!) Smile

Thanks for your compliments on Ben! Have a nice weekend ahead!

Like the photo of Ben on the phone. He look so seriously in a conversation, so cute and the one looking at the magazine, so adult like for him. When my children were younger, I too, like you will have them do lots of stuff in the day so that they will tired out and sleep early. Even just playing legos it will take up a couple of hours. Hope you have a great week ahead.

Hello Just Jennifer!
Thanks for your compliments! Oh boy... I'm going to enjoy as much as I can the daytime naps that Ben is having for now! Thanks for your comment btw, and yeah, I agree with your comment on my "Why I left Blogger" post! Happy weekend to you! Smile

I love the pic of Ben taking his urgent & confidential call! Smile

When I need to make Belle tired enough to nap:
1. I put on music for her to dance (Justin Bieber's Baby particularly)
2. Bring her down to the squash court, let her run to her content
3. Let her dig through this drawer in my room (standby drawer with safe stuffs for her to play with)
4.  More hide & seek.

Either one of the above usually works for us. Smile

Hi Catheryn!
Hmm... option 3 is good. I should maybe allocate one drawer for his treasure hunt activities! I wish there's a squash court for Ben to run around la!

Catheryn @ Pink Bibs

I love Option 3 too!  I can continue with whatever that I needed to do yet I can still keep an eye on her and not having to run after her every 0.01 second. Smile And I also stash the drawer with household stuffs... containers, spoon, ladles, plastic bowls etc.  Economical, safe and it works!
