Factors for Choosing Putrajaya Hospital

~ Posted on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 7:27 AM ~

I have received numerous questions with regards to Putrajaya Hospital since I gave birth to Benjamin over 3 years ago, I decided it's high time I write a post about it so I can just direct the people who asked me those questions to this post. Brilliant eh? (Too bad, 3 years late hahahah..)

My post here is to tell you what I experienced personally so that you sort of have a 'virtual' tour of being a patient there hehehe... I'll break down my explanation in categories for your easier reference:

WHY PUTRAJAYA HOSPITAL?

1) Full Paying Patient (FPP) Scheme

Now firstly, you can read all the nitty gritty details about their Full Paying Patient (FPP) scheme from the hospital's website. They are one of the few hospitals around that has the FPP scheme (the other one is Selayang Hospital). Meaning, you still have to pay for your consultations (of course!) but the rates are wayyyy lower than what you normally pay at private hospitals.

With my 1st child (Benjamin) and wanting the best advice and care, I paid about RM100-RM200 for each consultation at a private gynae (with his own clinic but he was attached with a private hospital) Then we switched to Putrajaya Hospital when I was about 8 months pregnant and I paid about RM60 for each consultation. The charges will be slightly more when I have to take blood tests and extra stuff.

With my 2nd child (Alyson), we did not go to the private gynae clinic but instead went to the private hospital (Sime Darby) and paid about RM130-RM180 for each consultation and we switched to Putrajaya Hospital when I was about 4 months pregnant. The charges of RM60 for each consultation remains the same even after 2 years.

In summary, you pay cheaper compared to private hospital but you don't have to queue up for ages compared to public hospital. Yes, there are times when I can jump queue during my check-ups.

2) They are natural childbirth friendly and totally for breastfeeding methods

One of the signage in the hospital for NO formula, NO bottles, NO pacifier!

You can see posters about breastfeeding benefits, how to guides, brochures and all. There's even signs banning formulas, pacifiers and bottles plastered all over the hospital. Love love love it!

3) Facilities & Environment

Pictures shown below were taken by my hubby 3 years ago when I was admitted to the hospital, waiting for my contractions to reach 10cm. FYI, I requested for the VIP Executive suite, meaning I want the whole room to myself. I seriously don't want to hear moanings and crying and whining of mums-to-be in labor feeling their contractions coming and going and I really wanted the room to myself for the peace and calm and all, so yeah, I got myself this room and it came with own TV, a fridge, a bathroom (with water heater), 2 sofas for guests.

If not mistaken, there are about 20+ Executive rooms on this floor so there's more privacy and quieter compared to the other packages offered for FPP patients (such as 4 bedded room and so on)

4) Treatment & Services by Staff and Doctors

During the consultation time, you will go for the standard weigh, blood pressure and urine test. Then your specialist gynae will attend to you. I find that both my gynaes (for Ben and Alyson) are very friendly, explain things in detail, patience and never rush our check-ups and they are very professional as well.

As for post delivery services, pictures shown below are taken by myself a day after I gave birth to Alyson in September 2011. You will be given the menu plan the day before so that you can choose what to eat the next day. I whacked the first meal brought to me (really really hungry!) and the pharmacist came up to my room to deliver my medicines supply and 2 nurses came in to give Alyson her required jab as well.

Basically, I feel their service is good, they responded as soon as I buzzed them hehehe... in fact, what I love about their nurses is they came in to check whether your breastfeeding techniques are correct or not. With Ben, I remembered one nurse standing next to me, watching quietly, guiding as well and only left the room when I managed to latch him on correctly.

Also, during Ben's birth 3 years ago, my hubby actually tagged along with one of the nurses when they took Ben for his morning bath. I found hubby standing next to the nurse, teaching him how to bath Ben step by step, how to swaddle him as well. Nice!

I would also like to add the incident where I was scolded by the nurses on duty while I was frantically searching for my lost hubby and newborn baby (before I found them in the bathing room). Just want to highlight the nurses meant well as I was walking REALLY fast (it's actually my normal walking speed) and they are really worried I might tear down there (I had an episiotomy with my 1st delivery) So good for them to be so strict hahahah...

THINGS TO TAKE NOTE

1) The specialist doctors are only available on weekdays 8am to 5pm (no problem for me since I'm a SAHM now but with my 1st child, I had to take MC or leave to go for the check-ups)

2) There are some specialists there who are open to C-sect but generally, this hospital is a very pro natural birth and very pro breastfeeding hospital.

3) There are 4 specialists gynaes when I had Alyson last year. Two female gynaes, two male gynaes. If you signed up under FPP, you can choose one of them as your gynae (you will be under his/her care until you delivered) But please take note that if the gynae is not available when you deliver, the hospital will get the next specialist available. With my 2nd child, I delivered during the Hari Raya time and all the specialists are away (my gynae was due to return to work the day after I delivered Alyson) so I was attended by a normal gynae (not the 4 specialists). But nevertheless, the gynae who delivered my baby is very good!

4) You might have to move around the consultation rooms as they are sharing the scanning machines and some doctors are sharing the consultation rooms as well.

There you go... I hope I covered all the things that needed to be covered about Putrajaya Hospital.

Feel free to ask more questions if you have any!

** Updates 20th March 2013: Please feel free to check out my latest post on check-up routines for FPP patients at Putrajaya Hospital now.

Very detail information. I don't think I took any photo when I was in the hospital during labor. Anyway that was a long time ago. I am sure this would be a guide for others who need it. Happy blogging to you and have a nice day

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Aries,
Thanks for your comment, you have a nice day too!

Liew

hi... May i know how much ya?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Liew!

In terms of consultation is RM60 per visit, but if not mistaken need to pay one time RM100 for registration as FPP patient.

As for delivery charges, in 2009 my friend had c-sect there and it costs her RM2800, while I had natural delivery 2 months after her and it costs us RM1400. Then when I had my 2nd child there in 2011, again natural delivery this time RM1300.
Hope the info helps!

jani

That's so so so so good! And cheap! Really too bad there's no such hospital in jb. You're lucky!

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Jani!
Yes, we are very happy with this hospital! Smile Even though it means traveling 1 hour to the hospital, it's worth it!

Liew

i delivered in HUKM last November, costs me RM 700++ for normal delivery + vaccum. But need to wait for few hours during check up.

Yours FPP no need to queue then can choose gynae wor... RM 1300 is quite cheap...

Planning for my 2nd bb now as i've PCOS, so thinking which hospital to go... i went to both private gynae and hukm for my 1st bb, how about u? only putrajaya?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Liew!
So far both also we stick to Putrajaya, even though gynaes change already, their standard and service maintain Smile

fadz

Your information very useful to me...i'm also plan to deliver my 2nd child at Putrajaya Hospital..my edd 27 Sept 2012.... Smile

Syazrinee

ould like to share my experience delivering my 2 babies at Putrajaya Hospital. Took the FPP for both deliveries. My daughter was delivered in 2010 via emergency c-sect. Total costs for 4 days 3 nights was RM3511. My gynae was Dr. Hamidah. In 2012, when I delivered my boy, my bill was RM3100, c-section. I stayed for 3 days 2 nights. My gynae was Dr.Azmi. I changed gynae as Dr.Hamidah has alot of patients and the queue to see her was long. Would recoemmend Dr.Azmi if you don't mind a male gynae.
Overall, I am very very satisfied with the service given to FPP patients. We get to cut the queue during check-up, can choose the date and time of check-up and a special executive ward stay.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Thanks Syazrinee for sharing your experience, I have 2 times went for Dr. Hamidah, that's because my gynae Dr Azmi was attending his patient who is giving birth. Yes, I prefer male gynaes actually. First was Dr Jamil, 2nd Dr Azmi Smile

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi fadz!
All the best to your delivery! Share your experience later! Smile

Cat

Hosp Putrajaya compare to HUKM and Hosp Serdang, do u think which one is better?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Cat,
Sorry can't comment more as both my kids are delivered at Putrajaya hospital.

Shelly

Hi Jenny, TQ so much for your sharing.Actually i also planning to have my first baby 2008 at Putrajaya Hospital, but i heard that they need the address prove that the patient stay at Putrajaya area before they give the services oh. Is is really?? tqtq

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Shelly!
You will need to prove you are staying in Puchong or Putrajaya area if you plan to register to deliver there under the free scheme (no need to pay if you stay around these 2 areas)

Which is why I signed up under FPP as I stay in PJ area. Being a FPP patient means you are paying them, hence no need to prove where you are staying Smile

Hope this help! Smile

Jessie Hay

Just a curious question- do the women in this hospital all give birth with their legs in the air as I have seen on so many american shows? Are they encouraged to get up and around and use alternative methods of pain relief? What is their rates of c/s, assisted delivery and epidurals?
I am quite shocked at what I have seen on ''One Born Every Minute- America'' which is currently screening here in Australia. A 90% epidural rate and nurses that belittle those that choose to go without, women that don't move from the bed, tethered to machines monitored by nurses in a communal room who have time to gossip, women who are actively told when to push and not allowed to go with their natural urges (which is far gentler and more normal), no in between when it comes to pain relief- (where are the heat packs, massage, water???), babies not put straight on their mums for skin to skin and immediate cord clamping- when there is scientific evidence to prove that it is far better for the baby, and mothers in a terrible position to birth their babies- legs in stirrups on their backs. What an awful environment to birth in, it makes me so sad. Frown

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Jessie,
Err, the one I went to, we just need to spread our legs wide, no legs up in air hahaha... As for the rates, here in Malaysia, chances are very high for natural birth if you go to government hospitals.

As for encouraging mums to be to move around, I do that when I was not fully dilated yet, I guess it depends on the person whether she can take it as some of the women I saw at the labor ward, pretty much lie down on their bed in pain Frown

As for pain relief, it also depends on the mum to be, she will have to inform the doctor earlier on the methods of pain relief. But again, most of the time if you give birth in government hospital, there will not be any pain relief options other than your breathing exercise and push push push!

Jessie Hay

So you don't have the option to use gravity? Do they allow the mum to get into whatever position she likes to birth her baby- squatting, all fours, kneeling? Moving decreases pain and also labor length, but it seems that not all women are aware of that fact, which is a pity.
I didn't realise you were reviewing a hospital in Malaysia and not America, it sounds like your maternity system there is a lot better Smile
Thanks for your reply Smile

Sharmila

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for sharing your experience at Putrajaya Hospital. I'm expecting my 3rd child. I was thinking of checking out the hospital since I'm staying at Puchong. Your comments really helps.

Recently I was confirmed pregnant. When should I approach Putrajaya? Do I have to wait until I am 4-5 months to get myself registered? Or can I go for routine check-up now itself?

You mentioned that people at Putrajaya and Puchong does not have to pay. What payment are waived for Puchong & Putrajaya people?

Thanks so much for your help. Have a nice day.

Regards,
Sham

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Sharmila!
Thanks for your comment! You can go for Putrajaya hospital anytime I guess, I only went there around 4-5 mths with my 2nd child (7th month with my 1st child). Am not sure what are the items waived if you are the nearby residents, perhaps you can give the hospital a call? From my understanding it should be free Smile

Lin

Hi jenny, let say i want a doulbe bedded room do they charge us 300 as well?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Lin!
So sorry, I think you better find out from the hospital on the charges. I know the nurse told us the price is same for 1 bedded and 2 bedded rooms but am not sure whether there are any changes since Sept 2012 Tong

yong

Hi would like to check with you, if i want to do my first time checking (hm just pregnant) during the weekend, is that open on saturday? or it actually require a specialist who only work during weekdays? just hope dont need to take leave....

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Yong!
Sorry to inform, the clinic opens on weekdays only. Last time with my 1st kid, when I go for checkup, I either have to take MC or take leave to do that. For 2nd kid, no issue for me since I quit my job to be a SAHM. You can ask the doctor to write an MC letter for you after the appointment Smile

yong

oh thank you so much for your prompt reply! appreciate it..what do you think if i dont wan to take FPP?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Yong!
For me, taking FPP is easier for me as I'm staying in PJ and they only accept Putrajaya and Puchong residents. It is cheaper than private hospitals but you get to select your own gynae and jump queues during check-ups (cos most of the patients there don't have to pay for their check-ups)

Chris

Thank you very much for your time and effort writing this blog down really helpful.. I appreciate it, was wonder where to giving birth coz of the high cost and the bad services.

Cherlyn

Hi, I am at 7 months ,have been checking  up  in Sunway Med and  ,I am  thinking to switch to Putrajaya hospital to give birth... However, I am not sure how should I go about it. Do   you reckon that I need to get referral letter to transfer there or to walk  in to check up in Putrajaya?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Cherlyn!
sorry for the late reply!
If you are staying in Putrajaya or Puchong area, you can go to Putrajaya hospital as patient free of charge but need to queue up everytime consultation.

I'm staying in PJ, I signed up under their FPP scheme, no need doctor's referral since I'm paying for my consultations. Otherwise, I think need doctor's letter to refer to the hospital. In any case, better if you give them a call to ask Smile

Sharmila

Hi Cherlyn, sometime back I did emailed Putrajaya Hospital enquiring about their admission. Here's their reply:

For your information Hospital Putrajaya is a refferal hospital. Please bring a referral letter (which referred you to Hospital Putrajaya for consultation and further check up) from any outpatient government clinic or private clinic to our specialist registration counter. Please contact 03-83124271 (Hasil Department) regarding to any payment and  03-83124309 (Obsetrik and Gynecology clinic) for more information regarding Pregnancy check-up treatment

I hope this information will help you.

Sharmila

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Sharmila!
Thanks for sharing your input! Smile So are you going under Putrajaya hospital for your 3rd child?

Amethyst

Hi there, I have register to deliver at putrajaya hospital. Just wondering is there have wifi service in side the hospital ?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Amethyst!
Not sure about that, maybe you can call up the hospital to find out? When are you due and under which gynae?

amethyst

i din under any gynae , coz im a government servant so cant choose. ^^

Sharmila

I haven't decided yet. I have 2 options at the moment, either Putrajaya or UH. I had 2 c-section earlier, so I wanted to ask the hospital if I can opt for c-section for my 3rd delivery. I know that UH allows it but I am not sure if Putrajaya Hospital allows it or not. Any idea?

Syazrinee

Putrajaya hospital allowed me to also have a c-sect for my 2nd baby. Reason: my 1st delivery was a c-sect. Therefore, it shouldn't be a concern if you had a c-sect before.

Sharmila

Hi Syazrinee, thanks for the feedback. Can I know how much did you paid for the c-section?

Syazrinee

My 1st c-sect was RM3511 for 4 days 3 nights in September 2010.  In March 2012, my 2nd c-sect delivery bill was RM3100 and I stayed for 3 days 2 nights.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

My friend delivered in Dec 2008 via c-sect at Putrajaya hosp and paid RM2800 under the FPP scheme. Didn't ask how many days she spent there but it was a 4 bedded room.

Sharmila

Hi Syazrinee, thanks for the info. Were you under FPP scheme?

Jenny, thanks for the info.

Syazrinee

Yes I was under FPP scheme for both my babies. 1st baby was delivered by Dr. Hamidah and the 2nd baby was delivered by Dr. Azmi.

Sharmila

Thanks Rinee.

How was the treatment given to you by the nurses after the delivery. Were they helpful? Do they keep the baby or the baby was given to you just after you're awake?

When I had my 2nd baby at UH. The nurse gave my baby to me after I am awake from the operation. It was tough keeping the baby while I was in pain.

yong

Hi i just had my check up this Tue with Dr Hamidah. But the dr seems like not very friendly in explaining to me. She never pointed out where is the finger, leg or etc, but only talked few sentences or words only..? (I'm just in 14th weeks anyway).. I wonder is that the usual way she treats the patients?..

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Yong!
I have a couple of appointments under Dr. Hamidah when my gynae, Dr. Azmi was stuck attending his patients (giving birth). Maybe it's just my opinion (or Azmi was better or my preference towards male gynaes), I feel like she's rushing through the appointment and maybe it's because it's my 2nd child that time so she doesn't explain much anymore other than just scan and tell us baby is doing fine. Are you under FPP? Try check whether can change gynae or not?

Syazrinee

Sharmila:
After delivery nurses were very helpful. will help you if you need assistance in feeding your baby. They will also bathe your baby and any other kind of help you need, they are very helpful. Baby is roomed in together with mummy. Oh yea, your hubby can stay with you overnight so that's a big help! Smile

Yong:
I too had the same experience when I delivered my 1st child under Dr. Hamidah. Found her very rushy. That's why I choosed Dr. Azmi for my 2nd baby. A brilliant and fantastic doctor. Takes all the time to check thoroughly and explain in details. If possible (you should be able to) ask for a change to Dr. Azmi and you won't regret! Smile

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Syazrinee,
If I'm not wrong, hubby can only stay overnight with you if you got yourself the private suite (which is what I did but hubby) If you got the 4 or 8 bedded room, hubby can only be around during visiting hours.

As for gynae, yes, my 2nd gynae is Dr. Azmi, wonderful gynae but he didn't delivered my baby as he was away for his Raya holidays when I delivered. I was attended by another gynae (not one of the 4 FPP specialists) but she's good nonetheless Smile

Syazrinee

Hi Jenny,
Yup you are right, hubby can stay with us overnight if only we take the executive suite. In my case, when I delivered both my babies, I stayed in the executive suite. Guess that's why my hubby could accompany me Smile

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Syazrinee!
Yes, I too took the VIP suite but more to my own privacy concerns. Do not want to wait for labor while listening to other preggy mums whining and affect my moods Tong

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Btw our case abit terbalik, my 1st was born in March 09' while 2nd in Sept 11' Smile

yong

Hi Jenny & Syazrinee,

Thanks for your info. Both sounds the same! ahaha. Dr hamidah too busy~~.. I'm actually selecting FPP, but I only pay RM110 during that checking, and haven't pay any deposit for FPP, is that to be the way?..(abit blur malu~~)

Actually I have met 3 doctors (pantai & sunway, but all are clinics outside) during 1st 3 months check up. Thats why I'm now trying not to change new dr agn..or else scolded by my hunny..haha But during my earlier check-up with sunway dr, he found that there is a fibroid above the bb, and it may cause bb to be delivered earlier and might require c-section. and thats why i select putra due to its final cost would be much cheaper compared to sunway. but dr hamidah din't noticed it and said it may has been disappeared after I reminded her..??..

Looking at both your experiences, I'm not sure should i book dr azmi for next appointment or direct go back to sunway dr....~ aiks headached haha

Sharmila

How much does it cost to stay at Executive Suite?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

For our 1st child in March 2009, my natural birth and stays for 3D 2N costs us RM1400. Then when I had my 2nd child there in 2011, again natural delivery this time for 3D2N RM1300

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Yong,
I think your RM110 is the FPP registration. Do you get a yellow paper or any form to sign for FPP? If you are near Putrajaya area, do consider this hospital. Pro natural birth, pro-BF, cheap!!! Try Dr. Azmi first la Smile

Syazrinee

Hi Sharmila,
The price of the Executive Suite is RM300 regardless you taking the 1 bedded or 2 bedded room. I must say 1 beddded is very limited but I have been lucky to have the 1 bedded room stay for both my deliveries. And oh yea, we can't do any room booking. It's 1st come 1st serve.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Syazrinee!
Yes, my friend who delivered her 1st child 2 months earlier than me wanted to get the 1 bedded room but the whole Executive suite floor was booked up by a royalty delivering at the same period. She had no choice but to go for 4 bedded ones Frown

Sarah

Hello Jenny and thank you very much for your informative replies.

My question is about the consultations in Putrajaya Hospital. Do they do the ultrasound check ups there? How much are the prices for the ultrasounds? And since the modern technology and new machines are very important in the results of ultrasound, are their facilities satisfactory?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Sarah!
You're welcome and glad that you find this post of mine informative ;)

To answer your questions, yes I do ultrasound checkups for every check ups. Each checkups under FPP scheme is RM60 (that's the price I paid from March to Sept 2011) while it is FOC if you stay around Putrajaya and Puchong area (that's what I was told few years back am not sure whether there are any changes to this - better if you call them up to ask) As for machines, when I have my 2nd child there, they actually have 4D ultrasound machine! Love it as we can see our baby better! ;)

I believe the facilities and equipments are somewhat better being a hospital located smack in the HQ of the country Smile

Cherlyn

Hi! Previously, I did my check ups at Sunway hospital and I switched to Putrajaya at 7th months.. I am with Doctor Azmi.., I would say he is a pretty good doctor.. Smile
He would take his time to check on the baby compared  to Sunway...
And, yes surprisingly their machine is better !
It's both 3D and 4D... !
And yups, its still RM60.00 per check up now

Sarah

Thank you indeed dear.
Actually I am not staying in the two areas. Besides, I am not a Malaysian citizen so not much difference regarding the payments Smile
Any way thanks for your help and care. Enjoy ur day with the kids ;)

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Cherlyn!
Thanks for sharing your experience! Smile

Hey Sarah!
You're welcome!

Ellin Leow

Hi Jenny,

This is my 1st preg, 35wks, means 4wks to go. My edd coming early Nov. I stay in Klang area & my checkups is in Klang Klinik Kesihatan. Izzit too late for me to apply FPP scheme or to register for admission.??

As all of sudden I'm planning to labour there. =P

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Ellin!
Wow, 35 weeks hah, hmmm... a bit too late stage I feel but do give them a call and see whether can or not? Never try never know since you want to go for FPP scheme. I mean, I would think as long as you are willing to pay under FPP scheme, it's income to the hospital why not right?

With my 1st child, I registered under the FPP there when I was in my 7th month.

Cher Lyn

Hiye, if I am not mistaken they only take new patient from certain weeks below - sorry I dont remember.. but you can call to ask..

Hhmmm..
I just came back from my check up 2 days ago...
As usual, went to the counter to pay RM 60.00 and the lady told me that I have another 2 transactions of RM 51.00 each pending.. I was shocked and asked her, what is that for.
Apparently, its for the scanning..told her that I am not aware of that coz when I called up, they told me its flat RM 60.00 and

Chris

yup, FPP (Full Paying Patient)package, every time check up for  consultation fee is RM60 + scan RM51 + if doctor give you any medicine... or any injection or blood text, all have to pay, no doubt

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Chris!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I so far only paid RM60 for each consultation, never anything extra for scan Tong I do remember having to pay extra when I did my Pap Smear in 2009, 6 weeks after delivery of my 1st child.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Cher Lyn,
Yes, sometimes there might be delay in the hospital staff posting the bills. Gynaes are busy the whole day so sometimes they can only managed to post their services later in the day. I also sometimes go for check up without paying anything since gynae no time to update my account, but I will always make sure the next appointment I go I will ask whether there are any pending amount. But again, so far I never have to pay for scans Smile Maybe different gynae, different style? Or perhaps it is their new policy?

Sharmila

A friend of mine who delivered at Putrajaya Hospital last year had mentioned to me that she pays RM60 for every visit. But the charges for scanning will be on the following appointment.

Cher Lyn

Yeah, thats what they told me yesterday after my few visits.
I am okay with paying the amount, just that I wish they could have told me earlier instead of slapping me 2 pending amount and I only knew about it much later.

Anyway, I still like my doctor -
Smile

Sarah

Hello Cher Lyn,
If I am not mistaken, you are with Dr Azmi, right? It's good that you like him. I went to the hospital and asked for an appointment with him but they said the soonest will be in December, because he is going to Haj.
Now I have an appointment with Dr Hamidah in Nov. and one with Dr Azmi in Dec. (since my due date is in March I wanted to see both to decide). when is your due date? Hope it is not in Haj time, and do you want a natural delivery or C-section? I will be thankful if you could share your experience with Dr Azmi here?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hey Sarah!
My 2nd gynae is Dr Azmi and he is nice!

Sarah

hello Jenny,
Did you have a C-section or a natural delivery with Dr Azmi?
Actually, there are three issues that I wanna know about the four gyn doctors of Putrajaya Hospital; Do they use epidural injection?
Do they vacuum the baby out of mums' belly? and do they take the baby outside of the mothers' room? I want an epidural, I don't want my baby to be vacuumed, and I do not want her/him to be apart from me even a second after birth. I will be grateful if you or the other mums would answer my worries so I could choose among the gyn doctors with more confidence.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Sarah,

Both my pregnancies are normal delivery. I can't answer on epidural and vacuum question. But I do have episiotomy for my 1st delivery and none for 2nd. I remember my 1st child being whisked away for half an hour after birth - the nurses clean my boy up, bring up his temperature and then brought him back to me to latch on immediately. As for my 2nd child, the doctor passed her to me right after delivery and I get to carry her for a few minutes before they whisked her away for cleaning and then brought back to me for latching.

Cher Lyn

Hiye Sarah !

Yupz, am with Dr Azmi and yeah, he is going for Haj. According to him during my check up on Tuesday - he said his Visa is not confirmed yet, but if all it's okay, he will fly off earliest on 15th, latest on 20th.
*super sad but, happy for him thou*

My EDD - 5th November - he will refer me to another doctor.

I told him from the begining that I want to do natural birth and he has been helpful about it to monitor my progress...
Overall, he is okay, very attentive. He will even tell my husband what to do and all..
It's good if you can get him.

Hope this helps.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Thanks Cher Lyn for sharing your feedback, if Dr. Azmi not around, try go for Dr. Hazmin Smile

Sarah

Thank you very much Jenny & Cher Lyn for sharing here. Will come & tell u if I find out the answers. Take care.

Cherlyn

Hi peps.. ! I have just delivered my child on 22.10.12, emergency C sec by Dr Azmi himself before he left for his Haji...
I was discharged on 24.10.12...  All in all it was quite a smooth process except a few hics here and there, but tolerable yeah...
In case you are wondering, when I was admitted they put me into a 2 bedded room - executive room 're full at that time... Went in for my c sec at 5pm out and under observation till 8pm... Then they moved me to the executive room...  *psst* the have a recliner chair for that room so hubby or anyone can accompany you (in a better comfort, seriously compared to the initial room given... )According to one of the nurses, this year birth rate is higher *dragon year yo* hence the room availability...
Overall I would rate this place 7 over 10 - the cost is the major factor of this rating ;)

Sarah

Hello everybody,
Congratsss Cherlyn,
Hope both you and ur baby are super fine.
I am sorry that you had to have a C-sec unlike your own decision. Though, there are some goods in C-sec delivery. I do plan for a C-sec decisively and if possible with dr Azmi, could u please tell me about the final bill? Did dr Azmi took the baby out with a vacuum? and did they give the baby to you immediately after birth? did they take your baby from you at all? (I want my baby not to be apart from me a single moment), I will be grateful if you could answer these three questions of mine dear.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Congrats Cherlyn! Glad to hear you have a smooth delivery! Hope you are enjoying parenthood now!

Cherlyn

Hi all, thanks for the well wishes...

Sarah, the bill came out to 2,600.00 only.... Seriously I thought higher coz when I called up last time to make app, they said 3-5k...anyway, am not complaining...
I m sorry, I was half awake during the procedure but I doubt they vacumn it coz I remember them telling me, ok cher Lyn they are taking ur child out and I felt them pressing my abdomen to push him out...
Nope, you're too weak to carry and also you are strapped to some machines.. but, after cleaning him and while sewing me up, they carry him to me to let me kiss him (and to confirm the gender, LOL) before showing to the dad... Right after the observation back to the room, they will immediately pass the baby to you to breastfeed...

Have you make app to see him ? One of the nurse there told me that his schedule are rather packed and he is not taking in new top patent.. but no harm to try ya... When I called up that time they only can confirm to take me in later in the afternoon....

Good luck Sarah

Cherlyn

Sorry, typo error...  I meant "not taking in new fpp patients" not "new top patent"

Sarah

Hello every one and thank you very much Cherlyn for your reply.
The bill amount is very reasonable, thank God Smile I had asked the same question and they had told me it is between 3 to 5 k! and you know, I normally go for the most in my mind (I don know why?)
Again, very good that they did not vacuum your baby, it could have some side effects for the baby as I have heard.
But they did take your son out for cleaning for a while, and I can guess that your husband was not there in the operation room with you during C-section, what about the other accompanies? in my case my mother will be there, maybe we could ask them to give my baby to my mother for cleaning, if the procedure allows.
fortunately they have to bring the baby to mother for breastfeeding very soon, that is good.
Although I went there for registration about one month ago, they could not make an appointment for me sooner than early December because he was going to Haj. I do have an appointment in December with dr Azmi but before that, another app. with dr Hamidah in early November (I have got thyroid problem so they decided I can not wait).  I think that is a good opportunity to see both of them.
Do you feel any pain after your operation? I mean in your tummy after they took your cute little dragon out, is everything all right about the sewing? when could you walk first?
Sorry it is so long, and special thanks to dear Jenny for creating such useful space for sharing ideas.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

You're welcome Sarah! Glad to have written this post, at least mums-to-be get to ask around and share experience on Putrajaya hospital Smile

Sharmila

Hi Cherlyn, congratulations on your new born. Hope both mummy and baby are fine. Thanks so much for sharing your delivery experience with us. It's very useful.

Cherlyn

Really, thanks to Jenny... I somehow bumped into this page at my 7th month and decided to switch here... Thank you Jenny !!!!!!

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Cherlyn!
You're welcome! Happy to hear you have a good experience with this hospital! Smile

Cherlyn

Jenny & Sharmila - Thanks !!
;)

Hiye Sarah, sorry for the late reply...
Am busy with the lil' one..

Like you, I will also prepare myself with the highest price - you will never know yeah.. but honestly, I myself never expect that amount..
A friend of mine c sec the same day as me,discharged on Friday in one of the private hospital in D'sara and the bill came up to 12k!

I dont think they vacuum coz I dont see it in the billing...
During the procedure, although I am numb at bottom half, I can feel that they are pressing my tummy - like to push him out...
I am sorry I cant 100% confirm on this..
At that time also I was vomitting from the anesthetic - this is seriously painful... dont mean to scare you, but you got to be really strong for this jab...or maybe my tolerance is low...

They didnt allow my husband to come in with me...
Frown
I am not sure but apparently now if you are to do C-sec, no companion are allowed.. Anyway, no harm asking to confirm during your check up...

Yup, Dr. Azmi left last Tuesday for his Haj.. I have an appointment with him in 6 weeks time.
Parking there is one thing I really dislike.. If your appointment is before 1pm, please make sure that someone send you there to drop you first to register and all...

No pains at the sewing, but I had some problem to urine at the beginning and also I was nausea and dizzy from the medication.. Even when I tried to sit up to feed the baby...
I kept vomitting till 2nd day...apparently it's normal..
However, on 2nd day, I do feel much better... BUT now that the effect of med is gone, the abdomen is rather painful - the muscles are pulling according to the nurse... So walk also like mak nenek lah that time..

Anyway, you will be okay after a few days..
I can run now *wink* but not advisable yeah

Hope the above helps.. But do remember, maybe your body is different from mine.. Above is what I experienced and it might not be the same for you ya..

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

If you are not working or can take leave to go for your check-up, you can schedule your appointment after 1pm, much much much less crowd and easier to get parking ;D

Sarah

Thank you veryyyyyyyyyy much dear for your comprehensive reply, I know you are completely busy with your baby so the time you put here for my questions is greatly admired.

Hope every thing goes very well with you and your family.

Cherlyn

Jenny is right.. I rescheduled one of my appointment after 2 once, plenty parking and less crowd....
I hope all is okay for you too... Do update ya...

*despite all the pains and vomiting and bla3, when they let you see your child for the first time, I can you tell all that are forgotten and its all worth it*

Jenny : very much admire you ..your blog have helped me so much on motherhood and kids.. looking forward to more of you !!

yong

Hi cherlyn congrates on ur new born baby!!

As stated earlier, wish to try dr azmi, but the nurse disagree, she worry later may have chance to meet dr azmi agn, and she will be unhappy~~..haha ..bt now thinking under dr hamidah shd be no problem also lar...

but the nurse bit not so friendly~~ i just did my check up outside on 20/10, so wish to book putra for 20/11 but the nurse dint allow, keep saying dr going for long holiday, n arrange me to visit dr on 1/11..wow just 11 days diff, wasted my money check up outside lar...??..think to skip this Nov month but the nurse not allow too~~

i wonder why you all having so great experience with putra ya, but i feel that hm..thy abit no so friendly treating me~~aiks..

Sarah

Very glad for you dear,ENJOY every single moment of it.
can't wait to see my baby's face also,
I will definitely update here, my appointment is next week, let's see what will come up.

Cheers!

Cherlyn

Hi Yong, I have met Dr Hamidah once during my stay there , she took over Dr Azmi case while he is away.... she dont really talk .. so cant really comment on her.... But somehow, I still prefer Dr Azmi... dont know why, mybe I got "yan yuen" with him...  (jodoh manusia, hahah....)

Haha, well, I do have not so friendly experience from them sometimes... but there are some good ones...
Even during my stays, some nurses do give me the black facebwhen I call for them, especially night shifts one...
Some are nice to mke effort to ask if I am okay the next time they came around....

When is your due date ? You might want to consider that before cancelling your first app. Apparently they dont take in anymore new patient if you are above certain weeks..

I switched from Sunway Med too, and like you the Dr there found a tiny fibroid inside me. However this was not mentioned during my checkups in P'jaya....

yong

Hi cherlyn, my due date is 13/3, so now is about 20th wks if not mistaken..just now actually called them up, tried to change the date or time, but the nurse after listen to my statement, just transfer the line then after awhile cut it off~~"zadao"~~ most likely tomorrow will visit them so that the schedule will go back to the train...

tomorrow appointment to be 11am, must be crowded as u all mentioned..

Andrea

Hi Mummies,

Im now 14th week of my 2nd pregnancy. I delivered my gal in HUKM specialist centre (private wing)in 2008. its cost me rm 2.6k++ included epidural & forcep for my bb & 2D1N in single room. I heard HUKMSC charges is quite expensive nowadays...

Based on all ur feedbacks, Im planning to see Dr Azmi under FPP since im staying in puchong now.
Q1, Can i just walk in to register n request to see Dr Azmi for the 1st time?

Q2, Any other choice of doctor beside Dr Azmi & Dr Hamidah?

Q3 Is that a must for bb to stay together w mummy even in midnite? still remember when my gal time, she was crying the whole night n i wasnt know how to bf her n the nurses were not helpful at all. end up , hb n I carried her the whole nite n 2nd day quikly ran out...hahaha....

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Andrea!
Congrats! Since you are staying in Puchong, you can go register under FPP (actually free since you are in Puchong but FPP better service and faster la). Other than Dr Azmi, you can try Dr. Hazmin. Can't comment on his service. When you register under FPP, tell the nurse you want to be under Dr. Azmi. As for your last question, Putrajaya hospital encourages rooming in, this is to help with breastfeeding as well, so I would recommend that baby sleeps with you at night as well. From my experience for both babies, the nurses are helpful and ensure you are breastfeeding correctly. Their baby care service and knowledge is good too Smile

yong

Dear all,

Hi, i just back from check up at putra, from 10.15am to 12.15pm, bit quite long queue....therefore wish to clarify that nowadays even with FPP plan, we only got the benefit don't need to queue up when eveytime register, but when waiting to see dr, you have to queue up as other mummy too... but of course you have the additional benefit which is you will confirm have the seat for delivering here lar, in which normal patient do not have..

Next, i thought there is only rm60 charge for each visits, but in fact we have to pay rm60(consultation fee) + rm51(scanning) lar. As the RM51 to be paid after check-up, so maybe some friends will miss out, and bill to be cumulative..thn to be cleared before deliver ;)

Therefore my suggestion is, as you will still have to queue to meet dr, why dont just take normal package during early stage, and when going to be 6th-7th month then only register under FPP plan, so that can book the seat ;)dont waste the rm110 for the first few months

Lastly, wish to mention that dr hamidah very soft today, talk very nicely and keep smiling, perhaps going to holiday so mood better lar.haha.. and after seeing my bb 3d pic, i've forgotten the bad mood of long queue lar..hehe

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Yong!
Haha, let me give you tips... make sure you friend-friend with your gynae. After the nurse took your pressure, weight and urine tests, you hover near your gynae office. Make sure he sees you! I always do that, for both pregnancies, and my gynaes know I'm their FPP patient, guarantee can jump Q! Laughing

Scanning wise, I honestly never have to pay more than RM60 for my checkup, other than when I need to do blood test for my 1st pregnancy. I think different gynae different charges. I think Dr. Hamidah is quite high post, so her charges might be more ;D

Sharmila

Hi,
Could anyone advise me on how much is the FPP deposit? Thank you.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Sharmila,
I remembered paying RM100 or RM110 for the FPP registration - non-refundable ya..

yong

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for your sharing! I'll definitely try your way to jump Q~~ haha

actually i was thinking, maybe if i dint go to the pembayaran counter, then they wouldn't charge me kut?.. for my september visit i dint check the bill at counter, then yesterday the lady there said you have paid your earlier scanning bill rite..if fact...ahaha ~~ feel that their system really got problem..

or because september visit i dint print out the 3D hardcopy, and therefore they dint charge me? ..did you have the pic copy for each scanning?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

For my 1st child I print out the 3D scan during each visit, but 2nd not many since because keep forgetting Frown  Anyway, it's FOC for me Tong

Sharmila

Thanks Jenny. Have a good weekend.

Sha

Hi, Jenny and all mommies!
Been stalking this blogpost since weeks ago as I am planning to deliver my baby in Hospital Pu
trajaya under FPP scheme.
I am 3 mon

Sha

*sorry, i didnt mean to hit the save button! but my fat finger did!*
ok sambung.

I am 3 mnths pregnant.
I have decided to choose FPP Putrajaya though Hospital Selayang is just few mins fr my place.
The reason is all

Sha

omg Jenny I am so sorry, typing from my tablet and it hits the save comment button!!
Blame my fat fingers!

Ok let me go straight to the point.
This is my first baby.
How long does it take before I pop my bun out?
I need to plan the time, especially travel to Putrajaya from KL.
I read diff people diff ways to deal with contractions etc.
But reading your entry makes me wanna go there, deliver my first baby.
Considering it is still reasonable, canggih facilities, friendly staff (based on my friend's experience)
And also because they have blood bank.

Another q is does FPP Putrajaya accept GL from private? I read FPP Selayang refused to accept due to lambat dapat claim etc.

Ok Jenny, thanks and sorry again for spamming your page hehe!

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Sha!
No worries! Thanks for your comments! To answer your questions:

1. Depends on baby and your health conditions. Both my kids are born at 39 weeks. If you have health risks like hypertension, diabetes, low amniotic fluid, etc might be earlier.

2. Do try out driving from KL to Putrajaya at few timing, off peak and during peak to gauge the time needed to travel there. But for check up wise, only weekdays for appointment ya...

3. Ways to deal with contractions. Yeah, diff people diff styles. I would recommend you go for a n antenatal class (look up Jenlia Maternal services). I was very quiet and calm during my 2nd pregnancy (I was already 8cm by then) so nurses did not take my complaints of pains seriously - again because they said I was quiet and not whining like other mums in labor.

4. What is GL ya?

syazrinee

Hi Sha,

I could reply your question with regards if FPP Putrajaya Hospital accepts GL? Yes, they do. I delivered my child in March this year and I used my husband GL(he's working in Shell). They accepted it with no problem. Just ask the insurance company to fax it to them on the day of your admission. Hope this helps Smile

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Syazrinee!
Thanks for your help in answering Sha's question. I still don't know what is GL leh... Tong

Syazrinee

No worries Jenny..GL is guarantee letter whereby its a guarantee that your insurance company will cover/pay for your hospital stay (if you are covered by an insurance company) Smile

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Syazrinee!
I see! Thanks for the answer! Learned something new! Laughing

Sha

Hi Jenny and Syazrinee,
Thank you so much for the help!
I have an appointment with fpp putrajaya next month.
Finally I have decided!
But of course there are people who told me about how far is putrajaya, can I make it on time blablabla,
Sigh.

Anyways, thanks again to both of you.
Have a good day!

JJ

Hi Jenny

thanks for all the information, it's really helpful

May I know does the FPP putrajaya charges for the double delivery??
means started with normal delivery but end up with c-sec
coz private hospital do hav this double charges

Can husband accompany in the labour room during delivery?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi JJ,
I'm not sure whether Putrajaya charges for double delivery, have heard of this in Sunway hospital because my 1st SIL had that, went in for natural birth but last minute couldn't had to emergency C-section, they charged her for both procedures. For Putrajaya, if natural birth hubby can accompany Smile

syazrinee

Hi JJ,

I delivered both my babies via c-sect and both times I was put in for normal deliveries, but due to fetal distress, I ended up in emergency c-sect. And both my bills did not double charge me. And each of the bills total came up to around rm3500 for 3 days 2 nights for all in and its both mother and baby charges. In the labour room husband can accompany you but in the OT husband is not allowed in.

JJ

Thanks Jenny & Syarinee for the useful information, it's really help.

Im now 10th week of my 2nd pregnancy & would like search for new gaynae , hospital for this round. my previos gaynae no longer attached to Pantai Ampang anymore which offer RM1980 delivery packages in 2011.

Since all the feedbacks are good with resonable delivery fee. I think will pay a visit to Putajaya hospital for my next checkup.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

All the best to you JJ! Btw, my 1st labor in 2009 costs RM1400, 2nd labor in 2011 costs RM1300. Natural and stay 2D 1N VIP suite ;D

ceerio

wow... this web really helps me on my dillemma.. actually i'm pregnant for 15 weeks.. it's my 3rd child and this one is not covered by my company like my two sons.  My 1st son delivered at Ampang Puteri and they charged me almost RM11k due to fetal distress. I think they charged me double as I was on my normal delivery but have to go for C-sec when the Dr broke my waterbag and its already greenish. so have to do emergency c-sec.  That's one thing ... but the most unacceptable thing happened to me which I really can't accept Ampang Puteri for delivery anymore is they failed to monitor my baby closely.  mmm quite a long stroy to write here... well, to cut it short my baby got problem where his lung was infected by some virus and his chances to live is 50-50.  And what the Dr told my hubby is that they don't have the facilities to treat my son.. that kind of machine only available at HUKM and Gleneagles but as for Gleneagles it will cost me abt RM2k per day for using the machine.  The news really shocked me.  and luckly around 10am nurse came to us and asked my hubby to get ready because HUKM is willing to accept my baby and they are preparing to transfer my baby to HUKM.  Only god knows how I felt that time.. he is my 1st baby and the famous private hospital can give me that kind of reason and not able to treat my son.  Yet when i discharged, the bill came out up to RM11k... really not worth it.. and I can't imagine if i lost my child... for sure they will not take the responsibility of their carelessness.

my 2nd baby i went to HUKM... luckyly it's normal delivery and cost me around RM3500. Well since my company just cover RM3k so i just top up another RM500 not like my 1st son where i have to top up the balance of almost RM8k.

as now i'm pregnant my 3rd child.. my hubby, a government servant said that just go to Putrajaya normal clinic which i'm not really happy with it..this is due to the rumous that i heard abt the nurses from government clinic which most of them are not friendly and their bad attitude (sorry have to say this) As for me, when i'm pain i would prefer ppl being nice to me not to scold or ignore me just like that.  And this blog seriously helps me a lot to decide where to go and the roughly cost that I need to pay for this PFF and which Dr to choose... tq all.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi ceerio!
Thanks for your comment and sharing. I believe Putrajaya hospital being smacked in the center of the country's HQ will have some sort of higher standards and quality. And to what I understand, they are semi private hospital. I have no problems with this hospital for both my deliveries. Wish you all the best in your decision making and do update us ya!

may

hi,
I am having my check up at SDMC and thinking to transfer to Putrajaya hospital under FPP scheme at my 4 months now. Just wonder when is the time to pay the deposit for delivery, during registration or just before delivery..? Actually my priority is to deliver at hometown. But want to have regular check up at kl just in case for emergency or can't rush back in time to deliver.

SDMC get me to have an anomaly scan soon. Is Putrajaya has this kind of detail scan or just a routine scanning will do...?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi May!
You need to pay about RM100-RM110 (forgot actual price) to register yourself as FPP in Putrajaya hospital. When it comes to delivery, then you will need to pay about RM3000 deposit, before you discharge, the hospital will settle all the bills and refund you the excess.

What does this anomaly scan does? Didn't have this in Putrajaya though. Unless you have health risks or family health risks history or maybe your age is a bit on the high side, then routine check ups should be sufficient.

Hope the above helps!

Leng

Hi there,
Happy Chinese New Year!

Thanks for posting up pics of the wards and your experience with the FPP scheme. It's really informative for us first-time mums.

I've also recently signed up the scheme and am now in my 28th week. Just wondering if it is possible not to go for check ups at Putrajaya? Reason being I find that for almost the same pricing I get better treatment at my private gynae as he would really take time to explain things over with me. And I also don't get the rushed feeling when I am there.

The FPP doctor that I chose doesn't really tell me much and I also feel a bit 'ng hou yi si' to take up her time as the queue outside is very long. But I was told that if I wanted to continue with the scheme I have to have my check ups done there until I am ready to deliver. Is it true? So far I've only been there for my first check up and I didn't really like it.

So can I just pop in when I'm about to deliver since I've already registered for the scheme?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Leng!
Thanks for writing in! Glad to hear you've signed up under FPP scheme. My personal opinion, you should continue to check up with Putrajaya hospital as they will need to keep track of your progress throughout the pregnancy. Imagine you did not go for check up and (sorry) had some complications and had to go Putrajaya hospital and nobody had progress record of you there?

Actually if the pricing is almost the same why go for Putrajaya then since your private gynae is as good and explain well to you? Just asking...

Leng

Hi there,
I'm going to Putrajay because I've already registered for the scheme and the nurses told me that I will need to go for check ups there. I've asked them if I could skip the check ups at Putrajaya and just continue with my own gynae but they said no.

So I'm in a dilemma now: on one hand I don't want to be paying to see 2 gynaes but on the other hand I have to continue seeing the gynae at Putrajaya despite being not comfortable of doing so.

I've read some of your earlier posts that you find Dr Azmi very good. Is his queue shorter hence you get to spend a bit more time with him? Am seriously considering if I should change my putrajaya gynae since my private one is a male gynae.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Leng!

OK, so I think you should continue to check up with Putrajaya hospital as they will need to keep track of your progress throughout the pregnancy. I'm not sure whether you can change gynae now though, need to check with Putrajaya hospital.

yong

Hi leng, i think i'm about same case as yours during my earlier stage as my private gynae charged about the same price, and don't need to queue for such long time, and also treated me very polite and soft. I've asked the putra nurse the same question and they din't allow. However, I also asked my gynae in putra and she actually very understanding and allow me to do check up at outside, where one month at outside and the next month to be in putra.

If ur putra gynae allow, remember to ask your private gynae to write the results in the red book, so that the putra dr can have the record. (but my private gynae disagree to write in the red book la..)

The reason for me to select putra for delivering is due to the lower cost in case i have to do c-section. While as the price for check-up is almost the same as outsider, we therefore trying to check at outside. However, i did notice that alot of private clinic or hospital (eg subang and tropicana hospital) only carrying 2-D scanning while putra hospital will provide 3-D scanning everytime you visit them (with no additional charge), and therefore it make me feel very satisfied and ended up willing to visit them more frequent..

tan

hi, am at 36 weeks. just found out this FFP scheme, called up this morning. but they do not allow registration as they only take in mummy 28 weeks.

tan

*they only take in mummy below 28 weeks.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Tan,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I would think that the hospital will not accept too late into pregnancy mums as they are not familiar with the mum's pregnancy updates and health risks (if any). I registered under the FPP for my 1st pregnancy when I was around 28 weeks pregnancy back in 2008.

yong

Hi, just for sharing purpose, my colleague's wife is at her 37weeks, and of course nurse reject her application to be fpp. but as i've the chance to meet with dr during check-up, my gynae agree to take her since she got 'songsang' case. And today she will make her 1st check up! (38 weeks)

Sharmila

My case is the same. I called up for FPP when I was in my 35th week but was rejected. I went to the hospital the following week (Mon) and they accepted me under the government which I don't mind actually. The nurse gave me appointment to see doc on the same week thursday. Maybe it was much easier since I have a referal letter from Klinik Kesihatan. KK has refered me to get c-section date from Putrajaya H because my earlier 2 delivery was c-section. The doc gave me 3 dates to choose on my 38th week. My c-section will be next week. I will update further after my delivery.

My cousin who delivered at Putra Hosp 2 years back was also refered by a private hospital cause her baby was breached just 1 week b4 her due date. The government section accepted her. According to her, the service was good.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Yong!
Good to hear that! Hopefully your baby will turn back in tome!

Hi Sharmila!
Thanks for sharing your experience! I think with the referal letter from other clinics/hospitals, it would be easier to get in even after 28 weeks. Good to hear that though, of course, hoping that everything will turn out fine! Good luck to you and baby!

Tan

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for providing this place for info sharing.

Hi Yong,
I hope I can get a place to do c-sec there under Dr. Jamal or Dr. Azmi. though not under FPP scheme. Can you help me to ask?

Hi Sharmila,
Are you under FPP scheme? If not, is your c-sec at government section? Do you know exactly which doctor will do the c-sec for you?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Tan,
No problem. Btw, Dr Jamil is no longer with Putrajaya hospital, he does have his own clinic in Cheras, forgot the area name but it was set up with his wife and 1-2 more gynaes. Shoplot area about 2-3 floors.

yong

Dear Tan,

Hi, I don't think you can select your gynae if not under FPP scheme. It's better for you to call to their general line 03-83124200 and ask them to connect you to Dr Azmi, then ask him directly, instead of asking me who do not know Dr Azmi ;) & do not know much about your details.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Tan,
As per what Yong said, better you call up to ask yourself since you know your conditions better. And if you are not under FPP scheme, you will go under whichever gynae available I think. Only patients under FPP scheme can select their gynaes out of the current 4 available. Hope this info helps Smile

Jessie

Hi..

thanks for sharing.. Im actually 15 weeks now but I am thinking to deliever in this hospt.

If i want to register as FPPS, I just walk in and register myself before making appointment?

Is that how it goes?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Jessie!
Congrats! Actually HPJ now have new policy, you need to set up appointment first before you can see the doctor. So if you walk in to register as FPP you can do that but you will need to set appointment for check up later, not on same day. I remember my previous 2 pregnancies I can just register as FPP patient and see gynae right away.

I have yet to blog about the new changes in HPJ since I just went for my check up 2 days ago.

Mabel

Hi is it every birth have to do episiotomy? I heard in Tung Shin they dont perform episiotomy. Thay said normal tear is shorter than to episiotomy.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Mabel,
I'm not sure whether every birth in HPJ requires episiotomy but I had it for my 1st labor. 4 stitches after that which dissolves by itself in 1-2 weeks time. For 2nd labor I did not required any episiotomy but I did have about 4 stitches as there's a bit of abrasion when my girl was born and doctor advised better stitch to heal up faster.

may

hi,

i m 31 week now and going to deliver at HPJ as FPP as well. Just wonder what the government hospital will be provided. Clothing, cup spoon thermos, sanitary pad etc for mummy? clothing, diaper blanket for baby? bit kelam kabut preparing this.. :p

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi May,
Clothing for yourself and baby, sanitary pad they will provide one only right after birth (am not sure about c-sect process as both my labors are natural and they give you a sanitary pad with strings to tie at your sides for the first time then you need to use your own sanitary pad already)

Blankets preferably for baby in case cold. Diapers too, bring more (I bring about 15 pcs - better be safe) I also have a thermos for hot water though they do provide in the VIP suite. Am not sure which room you will be paying for (VIP, 2/4/8 bedded) so not sure of the facilities in the other bedded rooms. Hope it helps.

may

Thanks Jenny. Think i better bring all then.. Smile

Wendy

Hi Jenny, may I know what are the documents required for FFP registration?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Wendy,

Based on this link (www.hpj.gov.my/.../full-paying-patient-fpp), you need to bring:
FPPS Registration
i. Identity Card/Birth Certificate /Visa/Passport
ii. Guarantee Letter (GL) from the company or insurance company stating their eligibility for the FPPS Scheme.
iii. Deposit
iv. Reference Letter / Appointment Card (if available)

Elana

Hi Jenny, do you how many executive rooms does putrajaya have?  I would like my husband to stay with me that night, I was told they have limited executive rooms.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Elana,
Sorry I have no idea how many executive suites HPJ have. Perhaps you can call up to ask? One of my friend wanted to go for VIP suite (like me) but when she gave birth in Dec 08', the whole executive floor has been reserved for a Brunei royalty giving birth there too. So my friend ended up staying in a 4 bedded room Frown

Hi Jenny,

I'm now in 37 weeks, due on 18 July 2013.
I have come across the listing (things to bring)from the comment.

May I know the clotings(myself and baby) are for when discharge or during hospitalised.

Anythings else should I take note when admit?

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi JJ,
The listing for items to bring is during your stay in the hospital. Need to bring enough clothings for yourself (admit and discharge) and for babies as hospital will not provide any clothings for baby. Best if you bring baby blanket/swaddle cos hospital will just use the normal blanket/nappy cloth to swaddle baby. Diapers bring for baby as well, probably about 15 pieces (better more to be safe).

Hi Tan,
Sorry for late reply. Since, I was late for FPP, I registered under government. I went there once only to fix my c-section date. Trust me, their service is very good.
Only thing is there are some practical students to take blood and pressure. I had a bad experience with one of the student. She pook my hand nerve to insert the drips until my blood overflow on the floor. This is my only minor complaint. But, besides that the nurses and doctors were kind. The nurses attended to me whenever I needed tham especially when I had to keep my baby at night after delivery.

JJ,
Also, bring Yuyi Oil too. When I was there, my baby was crying because of wind in the stomach. The nurse asked me for the oil. Please bring lots of diapers as Jenny said. I didn't know about this and only brought few. The nurses were kind enough to spare diapers for my baby while waiting for my husband to bring more diapers.

Hi Jenny, what is the document you need to bring for the 1st time registration? Any deposit need to pay for the registration? i am now 14 weeks pregnancy, i would like to go for the FPP, did call few times to the hospital but nobody picked up the call.

mcc

Hi Jenny,

would appreciate if you can post the new charges in HPJ. the amount RM1300 you mentioned before is total bill?

thanks.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi mcc,

RM1300 is the charges I paid for in total back in 2009 for natural birth. Am not sure of the new charges as you'll have to wait for me to give birth this coming Sept/Oct Tong

For c-sect, a friend of mine gave birth at HPJ in Feb this year and the charges in total is RM2400. Not sure about natural birth.

mcc

dear jenny,

that was including the labor charges + 3D2N in executive room? what is the charges your paid now for the monthly consultation? RM60 or more? i saw someone said there is scanning fees of RM50+.

the RM60 is actually for normal checkup only right? all other tests are extra fees?

thanks

yong

Hi, jz for sharing, i delivered by (natural + induced) and my bill was total RM2250. stay double bed executive room for 2 nights (walk in on sunday night and out on tue afternoon.) am not sure the higher price is due to the induced medicine or because of my gynae is dr hamidah, as it will be charged of RM60 for each time she came to my bed (2-3min! haha) . However, end up is dr hazim who brought my bb to this world as dr hamidah was busy ~~(if not mistaken there were total 6 patients giving birth by dr hamidah on same day!!)

yong

Hi jenny & mcc,

Forgive me for my busy body~~ hehe. but i need to mention here agn, thy've now chg the policy, whereby FPP patients have to pay RM60+50, in which 60 for consultation fee (to be paid b4 u meet dr), and 50 after you meet dr. the RM50 you can just pay in lump sum when you discharge to hospital. therefore, for those who want to take this advantage, you may just visit the hospital for check up (as they have the 4D scanning each time u visit), and dont want to deliver there, and therefore they cant charge on u since the RM50x is to be cleared when u stay in hospital! hahaha bad moral..anyway dont be so calculative~~

As the FPP patients also have to queue up to see the dr (as many have complained that it is unfair if FPP patienst dont need to queue), (but you dont need to queue for paying RM60), my suggestion is: go to see your private gynae until month of 6th! (save your time). or alternatively make the appoinment after 3pm! (much lesser of patients). or agn alternatively, dont sign the FPP so early, and so you can see the dr who are not for FPP patients, (as they are randomly arrange which dr is free if you are non-FPP, but if you are FPP, you must wait until ur selected Dr is free.)

But for infor, as putra is quite hot nowadays, i've ever seen dr hamidah who in charge of 3 rooms per time! each room to be seated by trainee dr, and to be guided by dr hamidah~~.. hmm...

Anyway, i'll still select putra for the next labor as their service is pretty good, and i was informed that if i paid the same amount at other private hospital (RM2250), i would have to share the room with 4-6 patients)..lastly, your husband can stay overnight even it is double bed!

mcc

Hi Yong,

thanks for the info. i am just trying to save if possible as the money is so small nowadays..

those FPP doctor like dr. hamidah are also consulting doctor for those non-FPP patients? that means the only advantage for FPP patients is they are seeing the same doctor every time, right? what do you mean by dont need to queue when pay RM60? does it means by the time making payment?

thanks

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Yong!
Eh, sorry wor, I'm still paying RM60 for my consultation each time. Nothing else except yesterday check up I had to get calcium pills and I paid RM12 for that.

The extra charges after seeing doctor or for 4D scan pretty much depends on which specialists you are seeing actually. Some will charge for the 4D, but the one I'm seeing nope ;)

As for not signing up with FPP so early, you can do so but not too late (I'm not sure the latest they register you at 28 weeks or what sorry forgot) but if you registered too late, you will not be accepted as FPP patient. So please be mindful of that.

Hi mcc,
My RM1300 is everything, labor + hospital stay.

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Yong!
Basically if you are under FPP scheme, you can select your own gynae/specialist. Instead of those not paying will go under whichever doctor available. I'm not sure whether the current 4 specialists handling FPP patients will also handle normal patients (most likely la..)

If you ask me, I think Dr Hamidah charges more cos the other 2 specialists I see so far, no extra charges, RM60 each time.

Last time, if you are under FPP schemes, you can jump queue. But this round with new procedures, your appointment is by the time set, so no chance to jump queue, though I did able to do so. Sorry, not going to share how I did it cos the last I shared about this, a lot of ppl do it so better I zipped my mouth already hahaha..

mcc

Hi jenny,

according to Yong, the scanning fees will add on to the final bill - after the delivery....BTW, are you going to monthly checkup?

Hi Yong,
the 2250 is charges to you this year? you dont have the itemised billing what they charged you for? can still get 2250 in private hospital? i thought is far more expensive....

thanks

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi Mcc,
For my 2nd labor I was seeing Dr Azmi, no extra charges after delivery. Confirmed. Maybe they changed new policies this round, but as far as yesterday check-up when I went to the Jabatan Hasil to pay any outstanding bills, nothing at all.

I so far went for check up at 2nd month, 5th month and yesterday at 6.5 mth.

Private hosp you will not get this amount at RM2k+ for csect.

yong

Ha jenny, don't be so happy 1st..keke.. later thy will be charging on you also, cause i've asked the kaunter pembayaran few times, then thy told me no hutang (even i haven't pay rm50). but after few more weeks the bill will actually come to you.. ha so i guess it is due to our dr haven't sent the bill to them..and also: because the person who sit at counter never click into details that there is still some pending (sound funny huh). their system is really kelam kabut. there was one time the registration counter told me that no more hutang, but at the same day at kaunter pembayaran, the person at 1st told me that no hutang, after that say let me click into to see detail, then the bill is out.haha. i stil tot can save some money...

Hi Mcc, the FPP dr will have to see other patients also, they actually have a rule that FPP dr have to reserve the free times for other patients during day time, and only to see FPP patient after lunch hr (told by registration counter). but end up those dr dint follow and all mix up la.. So Dr biasa (gynae also)are consulting non FPP patients, and Dr specialist are consulting FPP+non FPP patients, where FPP and non-FPP are both following the time either ticket number or the time you put your red book to counter (not sure which one), no longer say FPP can cut queue.

While when making payment during registration (to be made each time when u reach hospital), you can make a short queue only (cause nowadays quite some num of FPP patients and therefore have to queue up among them), while for non-FPP, they need to wait until all FPP clear then only can register following the ticket numbering.

Therefore the advantage of signing FPP is: you confirm reserve a bed for your delivery, and there is a specialist gynae assigned to you. if you dint sign up the FPP, they may send you to kajang or serdang if there is lack of labor room for delivery, or direct reject you if you are not puchong or putra resident (if not mistaken). So all the advantages are during delivery time, when doing normal checkup there is nothing much special anymore..unless you got the decision that must see specialist (those senior gynae)

mcc

Hi Yong,

many thanks for the info again.

yong

Hi mcc,

Yupe of course can't compared the exactly the price, but i was told tht colxmbia is charged RM3-4k for some of the gynae la..tats y i was thinking if really want to compare, c-sec is much more worth as outside charge much higher in percentage..

i din't see the bill at all, as all paid by husband n me only concern bout baby that time ;) 1st baby ma.. it was during this year March. thats y i guess the charge is bit diff, n i remember the charge for accomodation is differnt among actual and the value written at the board next to counter pembayaran.

oh ya i just recalled that my colleauge fren deliver with FPP this year, charged at RM1500, that's y i was shocked when told that RM2250..hmm..

Hi jenny,

yup i remember ur technique, hehe u taught me, but i failed to do that~~ hv been waitin for 1 or 2 or 3 hrs since my gynae alw busy in the labor room...actually total hrs is not alot la, only that we hv set in our mind that we dont need to queue up, thats y once i need to wait, then i easily geram dy.. haha. but compared to my fren at colxbia, she has been waiting for whole day since there are only 2 gynae there~~

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Hi yong,

Aisay, then I gotta see how much it will be more with the delivery this round Tong You are under Dr. Hamidah so her charges will be more wan Tong

yong

Hi Jenny,

but end up not dr hamidah who help me in delivaring la..geo dao!~~ but dr hazim is good, hehe keep giving positive support, only that a trainee dr bit lousy, cucuk my hand til very pain..a nurse can do much better than him..

Ceerio

Hi everyone..

I've gave birth on 13 june 2013 at Putrajaya hospital. Check in (hehehehehhe) on 12/6 evening and discharged on 14/6 afternoon. They gave me 2 bedded room as the single bed/executive room was. full. They told me there is only 7 rooms for maternity cases and others for different cases. Eventho they gave me 2 bedded room but the charge for the room is still the same like the executive room @RM300 per nite. My gyne is Dr Azmi. Overall he is really good. Everytime check up he will explain everything to me and hubby. He will ask if there is any Q that we want to ask him. There is one visit where Dr Azmi is not around and the nurse put me under Dr hamidah... And i felt that she is too bz to attend me as she only came to do the scanning and the rest of the process being done by the normal Doc. She didn't explained anything during the scanning process and just said that everything is ok..and asked the Doc to give me the next appointment date. I felt so lucky that i've choose Dr Azmi as my Gyne.

Ok... Abt the charges.. My total bill is almost RM2.5k. It's normal delivery plus epidural and vacumn... What i remember...They charge me RM250 for the labour room which i think that's the charges for 1 day use. RM700 for the epidural... RM300 for the room charges per nite which they charge me for 2 nites... The rest i can't remember... I'll get the bill from my hubby and update it here later ya.. Just in case if someone want to know the details of the charges lah hehehhe...

Jenny @ I'm a full-time mummy

Congrats Cheerio! Thanks for the updates! Enjoy your baby! Smile

mcc

Hi ceerio,

congrates!
just wanna to check with you, did you see any billing on the scanning fees of RM50+ for the past few months checkup as mentioned by Yong?
thanks.

Ceerio

Hi...

I didn't see any scanning fee tantamount to RM50 in my bill...
