Almost 2 months ago, I received an invitation to review one of Mabel’s Labels Back to School combos. At that time, our 3 years old Alyson will be due to start her K1 in about 3 weeks time so I decided to review the "Ultimate Back to School Combo". Anyway, let's continue with my review below...

You can choose from 4 limited edition solid palettes or 40+ multi-coloured designs, plus 3 special back-to-school motifs (bus, books and apple) but I have decided on Solid - Pink Lemonade for our girl since she loves pink color stuff and solid palettes as I feel it is easier to see her name. I also opted for the Princess with Tiara icon which is something she would go crazy for as she is into princess-y stuff at the moment.

I provided the necessary information required (Name to appear on the labels, Icon of my choosing and whether Multicolor or solid palettes) and got my product in a few weeks time. There are altogether 40 Skinny-Minis™, 50 Tag Mates™, 16 Shoe Labels and 2 Teeny Tags™, all nicely compiled into a nifty little booklet which can be easily carried around.

I like the 2 cute Teeny Tags™ which are waterproof and UV resistant. They have a very solid feel and I like that I can easily use it as a keychain for our girl's backpack.

I peeled off one of the Skinny-Minis™ label and stuck it onto our girl's water bottle. After daily washing and drying and ehem.. rough handling by a ninja-ish 3 years old, I'm happy to report that the label stays strong and still in its place.

Although we have since pulled our 3 years old girl out from her preschool, I am definitely going to make good use of them on her other belongings.

For this post, I am sharing my next food recipe, Oatmeal Chicken. This recipe is similar to the Oatmeal Prawns dish that I tried a while ago, just using chicken instead of prawns and fry them a wee bit longer. Without further ado, here is the recipe for Oatmeal Chicken :

Outcome:

I like that the oatmeals provided a nice coating all around the chicken (way better than using the KFC powder than we Malaysians like to use). Also, don't overcoat the chicken if you prefer crunchy texture. Other than that, it is very easy to make this dish, little ingredients, easy to follow steps. This recipe is definitely for keeps!

I have recently started playing word games with our 5.5 years old boy. I noticed he is slowly picking up phonics and spelling stuff based on the homework he brought home every other day from his preschool.

I started off with A for apple, A for aeroplane when he was around 4 years old but I guess it doesn't stick with him until he learns about phonics before he started preK this year.

Now we go with me starting off the game saying 'What starts with bah (for letter b, it is pronounced as 'bah')?' I will start off with the first answer for example I would say, 'Bah! Bah for bah-sket (for basket)' then we will continue until we ran out of words that starts with the letter B.

The other day while in the car coming back from our family breakfast outing, I started the game again. I went 'What starts with 'terh' (for letter T)? Terh! Terh for train!' then our boy continued with 'terh for tram'. At one point he said 'terh for thought'. I did not expect him to know this word at his age - as in to associate this word to start with the letter t. I asked him 'Do you know your terh for thought', what does the thought word means?' And he told us 'Thought like I thought I am a boy!' Silly, but yes, he got the concept right! He knows the meaning of the word though I am sure he does not know how to spell it yet at this point in time but hey, 5.5 years old telling me 'terh for thought' awesome possum!

I will definitely be continuing on with this game, who knows, I might learn from him too!
