iPad App Review - iMix

~ Posted on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 6:45 AM ~

I have previously reviewed "The Magnificent Travelling Palace", so when the same developer asked whether I would be interested to review his latest app, I thought 'Why not?' Without further ado, here goes my feedback...

Description from the product page:

"iMix- is a creative game that improves children's reading, writing and pronouncing skills in an imaginative playful and amusing manner. By mixing and matching parts of different characters and the syllables attached to them, children can create over 2000 new comic characters with funny new names. Touching each syllable will pronounce it, while the large speaker icon pronounces the full name of each character.

* This is a cute and fun game app where it allows you to slide 3 parts: head, body and feet and as you slide each part and tap on the word corresponding with the part, you get to experiment with new words and new creatures!

* There's just so many possibilities to learn new words and see the funny creatures that you made out of the creative words you slide.

* I would prefer if the corresponding part is also pronounced out when I tap directly on the image section as well as currently, it is only pronounced when you tap on the left letters side.

Product Review - Olive Baby Products

~ Posted on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 8:21 AM ~

I received an email sometime in the middle of December last year with a pitch to review a range of baby products and upon checking out for further details, I decided that I should go ahead to review it as I'm very intrigued with trying products that are natural and gentle for baby and I was very keen to try out the products since they contain extra virgin olive oil. So here goes my review for the "Olive Baby Products ":

Description from the product page:
"Our Olive Baby range of skin care products is all natural and gentle for your baby's skin. All of the products contain our own extra virgin olive oil from Simunovich Olive Estate in Auckland, New Zealand – an ingredient which has been used for centuries in the Mediterranean as a beauty treatment and an overall remedy for the skin.

The  Olive Baby Body &  Hair Wash has a mild formula which will cleanse, moisturise and condition your infant’s skin and hair.  Containing a nutrient-rich, hydrating blend of natural ingredients, this gentle all-over, body and hair wash is suitable for daily use.

Mild and pH balanced, Olive Baby Moisture Milk with extra  virgin olive oil and vitamin E  will help keep your infant’s delicate skin feeling protected and comfortable. This light lotion was specially formulated to guard against chapping, chafing and dryness, leaving your infant’s skin feeling smooth and soft. "

I received 2 items for my review, the Olive Baby Hair & Body Wash and Olive Baby Moisture Milk.

Olive Baby Hair & Body Wash

I like the fact that I can use this product from head to toe! Yay! I like that it is not greasy, and it has a nice citrusy lemony smell to it when you lather it onto your body. By the way I had initially thought to myself 'Small bottle, I don't think it will last long with 2 kiddos using it' and then I tried it on myself before using it for my 2 kiddos... boy I was wrong! Just a small dollop of this is enough to lather all over your body, no kidding! Once I was convinced, I tried it on my kiddos. They smell good!

Olive Baby Moisture Milk

I applied a dollop of the moisture milk lotion onto my palm and I love that it leaves a glossy finish and keep my skin supple and smooth. I do however want to highlight that the nozzle is way too high, not sure it is faulty or not...

My almost 1.5 year old girl also decided to give it a try by rubbing some of the lotion onto her body and legs. Wonderful product that keeps my kiddos skin smooth and supple (and also the comfort of mind that it is a natural ingredients product good for baby)

iPad App Review - David and Goliath

~ Posted on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 8:04 AM ~

I had earlier reviewed "The House That Went On Strike" and after noticing my almost 4 years old boy getting hooked to listening and watching the story app over and over and over again, I decided to check out what other apps were developed by the same developer (I always do this when my kids like the apps on my iPad) and then I found this awesome app. Without even an ounce of shame (really!) I decided to ask the developer whether I could possibly review this app and to my delight, they send me a promo code to review it! Without further ado, here goes my feedback...

* I love this app! It is engaging and interactive! There are some objects on each pages which allows us to touch and then see the animations of it!

* I particularly enjoyed the page shown below. It kinda depicts how the battle goes on long long time ago and to be honest, my boy and I spent quite a long time just on this page, each of us taking one side and battle over each other hahaha... it was fun! I also used the opportunity to teach my boy the types of weaponry used during battles and wars.

* Prior to using this app, I have read from the bible and even showed some cartoons on David and Goliath but I think this app is the one leaving a lasting impression because it is so realistic and the animations in this story app just add on to the exhilaration and the fighting spirit.

* I love seeing my boy's face turning into amazement and wonders as he listens and watches through the storyline. How little David is compared to the giant Goliath. How David braves on to fight Goliath with God on his side.

* I have always reminded my boy whenever he is scared of something that 'God will protect you, don't be scared. Remember how David can fight Goliath? It's because God protects him!' and I have the opportunity to hear my almost 4 years old boy telling me 'Mummy, I'm not scared. God protect me like how He protects David when he fights with Goliath!'. My boy uttered this the first time he sat on the toilet seat to poop. He has always been afraid of sitting on the toilet seat (he told me he's scared of falling into the hole) and I'm very happy to be able to witness his milestone and that he relates it to David and Goliath when he overcame his fear of toilet seat. I'm forever grateful to be able to review this app!
