Product Review - Skyline Pac-Man Fever 80s Retro Bag

~ Posted on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 8:01 AM ~

I remembered those good old days where I stayed up late at night to play Pac-Man on my video arcade game console. Those were the good old days...! If you have never heard of Pac-Man, then you will not understand why I'm excited over this retro bag that I get to review recently. And if you know what is Pac-Man, you'll wish you have this bag too! Here goes my review for the "Skyline Pac-Man Fever 80s Retro Bag":

Description from the product page:
"What's that blip-blip sound? It's the Pac-Man zipping along chewing up dots, ghosts, Blinky, Inky, Pinky and Clyde. No, our Pac-Man Fever 1980s Classic Retro Reporter Bag Doesn't actually come with the sounds, but you could probably make them yourself while traveling with this reporter bag. With Pac-Man and the ghost images layered onto a tough retro vinyl exterior, heavy nylon lining and pocket space, all your gaming supplies, iPods and iPads, and Pacman goodies stay safe and dry in this awesome tribute to the greatest game ever made.

Pac-Man is one of the only three games that are featured in the Smithsonian Institute. This is the PacMan Fever 80s Retro Bag - Skyline Men's and Women's, in Black and Brown colors. It rocks, get one and join us.Rocking, munching dots, dodging Ghosts! This is a seriously funky bag, you'll love it."

The moment I took out the bag from the package wrapper, my boy immediately pointed at Pac-Man and its 4 enemies (Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde) and he says "Mummy look, monsters chasing!". Now back to my review, I love the bag, I really do!

The leathery feel of the vinyl bag, though a bit heavy for me was soon forgotten when I inspect the bag further. I love the long adjustable strap (not easy to find one) which are secured tightly to the sides of the bag. I immediately adjusted the length to suit my requirements, which is to wear it as a sling bag because that's how I roll, oh yeah!

I like the 2 cute zippers on the bag (I get annoyed when there's only one zip on a bag), I mean, 2 zips are cool as I can open it from either sides! Upon further inspection in the insides of the bag, I discovered a zip compartment and a open layered compartment (can easily slip in my iPad, yeah!)

Then I get down to transferring the stuff in my diaper bag to the Pac-Man bag. Obviously my old diaper bag is much smaller than the new one but I like it as the new bag now looks slim and fit (unlike the diaper bag which is out of proportion and getting worn out) In the pictures above, you can see my 3 year old immediately tried to carry my new bag (he can't hahaha..) and he too, can't resist but got down to search through the contents in my new bag!

I immediately brought the bag along at the very first opportunity for a family outing and bugged my hubby to take a picture of me with the new bag, because I need to show to you guys how excited I am to be the owner of this retro bag! I feel so proud to be able to relive some childhood memories of playing Pac-Man and that this bag will be tagging along with us from now on when we go out for our family outings.

All I can say is I love this bag! I'm so happy I get to review this bag!

Getting My New Glasses...

~ Posted on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 8:27 AM ~

We went to our favorite optical shop last week to get our eyes checked and also to get new glasses. My MIL tagged along as well and once we reached there, we had to wait quite a while for our turn (a lot of customers in the shop!).

So we sat there, and goofed around with hubby's sunglasses...

Baby Gaga?

We browsed through the selections of eyewear frames and all. And I jokingly got Ben to select one nice frame for mummy.

And he chose one right in front of him. I laughed at first and then decided to try it on after persuasion from hubby and MIL to just try it on since Ben chose it. And I like it! And then I got him to chose one for his grandma,... and she freaked out when she saw what her grandson chose for her hahhahha!

I can't wait to get my new glasses! I think the one I'm wearing now is almost as old as Ben! Will show you guys the picture of me in my new eyewear when we get it!

And yeah, never laughed at your children's taste! It might turn out to be awesome!

iPad App Review - Kids Preschool Puzzle & Words

~ Posted on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 12:14 PM ~

Ben is 3 years old already and I've always been scouting for apps which I can get him to try on so it was a coincidence that I received an email asking me to review a preschool puzzle app. Of course I said yes! Anyway, my review as below...

I'm a full-time mummy

* Title: Kids Preschool Puzzle & Words
* Price: $3.99
* Category: Education
* Updated: 23 May 2012
* Version: 1.0
* Size: 41.8 MB

Description from the product page:

"The challenge of this educational game is interesting and exciting: a child will move patterned pieces of paper to complete a picture. When the object is created, its name is spelled on the screen and you can hear the word pronunciation - in any of 14 languages available! Pictures are grouped into 6 categories (Animals, Vehicles, Fruit, Veggies, Numbers, Shapes), so there are 60 wonderful pictures to assemble and learn."

** Note: Free lite version (with one category open: "Animals") will be available on May, 30th 2012

What's good?

* I like the child lock features (you need to tap the screen a few times to unlock/edit certain options in the app)

* I also like the different levels of difficulties when playing the puzzle - allows me to adjust the difficulties based on my boy's learning skills now.

* I like the feasibility in changing the categories (Animals, Vehicles, Fruit, Veggies, Numbers, Shapes) just by pulling down the ribbon icon at the top right of the screen.

* The puzzles are easy to play and solve but my boy couldn't focus long at the app (reasons noted below)

Room for Improvement?

* Language selections showing on each puzzle – for me, I think a puzzle app should show more puzzles instead. Currently the language selection option is sharing the screen with the puzzles. Yes, there might be people who wants to learn other languages but perhaps this can be done with an option at the menu asking user whether the show the language selection on every puzzle or to turn off showing the language selection.

* The puzzles outline should be darker as currently not easy to see (due to the pastel color)

* I would prefer as we solve the puzzle, it shows the puzzle pieces instead of the current pastel color shapes (where the puzzle only revealed when you managed to solve it) I think showing the puzzle pieces as we solved will motivate the child to solve faster as they can see what is being pieced up together now.
