Book Review - Guinness World Records 2019

~ Posted on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 12:50 PM ~

As a busy mum with 4 kiddos between 1.5year-old to 9-years old, I have started cutting down on doing product reviews to focus on our coming 5th kiddo (due Oct 2018), childcare and family life, home cooking, education, helping with hubby's administration site of the business and sharing informational articles on my FB fan page so I am only accepting and prioritizing products that can fit into our family dynamics (especially books on parenting or educational stuff, family products, something along those genre)! Reading is my passion and coupled with books that are of parenting, children, family or religion or educational genre, all the more I gotta say yes!

We received the "Guinness World Records 2019" book which I had intended for our older 3 kiddos age ranging from almost 5 to 10 years old to use for their knowledge learning and English reading materials. I like that the book is categorised into their respective sections - making it easier for me to quickly jump into certain category for quick reading.

Guinness World Records 2019

Certain topics like 'Continents' is quite practical and relatable to our kiddos since they do learn about the continents in the world. It is always great to find out more interesting facts on top of what they have learned before.

There are also some pages towards the end of the book where you can try out at home. If you are keen to take up the challenge, you can get the instruction and guideline from http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/products/books/guinness-world-records-2019/tryathome

Overall, this is a fun and educational book to own especially if your child (or even yourself) likes to read and find out more about the odd and interesting things happening all around the world!

Product Review - Jordan Oral Care Products

~ Posted on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 12:09 AM ~

As a busy mum with 4 kiddos between 1.5year-old to 9-years old, I have started cutting down on doing product reviews to focus on our childcare and family life, home cooking, education, helping with hubby's administration site of the business and sharing informational articles on my FB fan page so I am only accepting and prioritizing products that can fit into our family dynamics (especially books on parenting or educational stuff, family products, something along those genre)! Today's post is my review on Jordan oral care products.

Jordan Toothbrush

About the product:

"Jordan is an award winning oral care brand since 1927. Having awarded the prestigious global Red Dot Design award, Jordan is one of the oldest oral and dental hygiene brands in the world. It designs and produces toothbrushes for the whole family, giving them clean, healthy and beautiful teeth. The company also offer a high-quality range of products for cleaning between the teeth, from dental floss to different sizes of interdental brushes."

Like my previous review experiences with Jordan, they have always been ever so generous in sending me a range of oral care products for my family (young and not so young hahaha...) to try. This round, I will focus more on their range of products for children. FYI, this year, Jordan rolls out the much-awaited children's toothpaste in 2 groups, ranging from 0-5 years old and 6 to 12 years old. What caught my attention this round is the new flossing and toothpaste products for children! Btw, Jordan's toothpaste products are halal, having been certified by JAKIM on 16 May 2018.

Jordan Oral Care

Our littlest family member is about 1.5-year-old now and has been ever so eager to follow and replicate his older siblings. Hence, I started brushing his teeth when he turned 1 year old. He is currently using the Step 1 range of toothbrush which is meant for 0-2 years old and it has a small head with soft bristles which was specially designed for children's first teeth.

I chose the orange and blue tipped colour toothbrush for him and use a pea sized toothpaste for him. Of course, at his age, I will brush his teeth first and then while I brush mine, I will let him continue to 'brush' on his teeth since he is still very excited he is allowed to 'brush' his own teeth himself.

Jordan Oral Care

For our 4.5-years-old girl, she was so excited to have a new pink coloured toothbrush. Her Step 2 toothbrush is specially designed to clean milk teeth in children around her age, which is 3-5 years. I like that the toothbrush has an ergonomic handle, easy for her small hand to grip during the few occasions where I let her brush her teeth by herself, while I stood watching next to her. Sometimes I will be the one brushing her teeth so yes, I do feel the handle is ergonomic to the grip for parents' as well.

Jordan Oral Care

From left to right: Hello Smile (for 9.5 yo), Step 3 (for 6.5 yo), Step 2 (for 4.5 yo) and Step 1 (for 1.5 yo)

For our 6.5-years-old girl, her orange and white coloured Step 3 toothbrush is designed to meet the challenging oral needs of 6 to 9 years old children. The challenge at this age is that, with both milk and permanent teeth, the positioning of the teeth may be uneven. The quality and placement of the bristles and head become even more important - hence you can see there are 2 bristle heads on the toothbrush where the integrated ‘solo brush’ reaches molars and hard-to-reach spaces between the teeth and gums ensuring that no teeth or surfaces need be forgotten. She has so far lost 2 baby teeth so I feel this toothbrush helps her in terms of transitioning to permanent teeth.

Jordan Oral Care

For our 9.5-years-old boy, he is currently using the Hello Smile range which has active tip and bi-level bristles to clean between teeth. It also comes with a cheek and tongue cleaner and the handle is flexible and has a rubberised grip. The colours are eye-catching and his favourites too!

Jordan Oral Care

Our kiddos also tried the Kids Toothpaste (for age 0-5) and Junior Toothpaste (for age 6-12).The toothpastes are SLS free and the fluoride ppm level is appropriate for the kids' age range.

One of the highlights of our review this time is the Kids Flosser. With a smaller handle and fruity flavored floss, it is definitely exciting for our children to try out. Our 6.5-years-old girl especially enjoys using the Kids Flosser and it is great to know even dentist recommended children to start flossing from 5-6 years old.

Of course, our kiddos were amazed to see there were still some remnants that can be flossed out even after they have brushed their teeth! Compared to the traditional string floss, I think our children prefer the Kids Flosser as the ergonomic handle with soft rubber which allows for better grip especially when small hands are holding it and trying to floss their own teeth themselves. Kudos for the awesome product!

Overall feedback, I'm very happy we get to review these products AGAIN!

Jordan oral care products are definitely worth the long run for our whole family!

Product Review - Gaston Luga Backpack (with awesome discount code)

~ Posted on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:09 AM ~

As a busy mum with 4 kiddos between 1.5year-old to 9-years old, I have started cutting down on doing product reviews to focus on our childcare and family life, home cooking, education, helping with hubby's administration site of the business and sharing informational articles on my FB fan page so I am only accepting and prioritizing products that can fit into our family dynamics (especially books on parenting or educational stuff, family products, something along those genre)! Today's post is my review on Gaston Luga, a Scandinavian minimalistic chic backpack.

Extreme Colouring- Amazing World

Gaston Luga

About the company/products:

"The story of Gaston Luga and the minimalistic backpacks took its start during a trip to a new continent, where our founder Carl Sundqvist met an interesting Frenchman with an elegant and casual style. Gaston told Carl he believed a backpack is the optimal companion when discovering the world. Since he was a person keen of his style, he had put time and effort into finding something different from the regular school style. Finally he found himself an elegant Louis Vuitton, to which he had several modifications made. Making it more personal, functional and unique. Inspired after the meeting, Carl decided a few months later to create his own backpack brand with classic elegant style and practical details. Hopefully these would get to travel the world, just like Gaston.

Gaston Luga loved his elegantly custom-made piece. We understood the industry was lagging when it comes to what customers today want. Most products are designed with big fluffy shoulder pads, plastic materials and thin fabric, which brings thoughts back to the first day of school. It was important for Carl to create something he would wear himself and be proud of. The vision was to make a line with Scandinavian minimalism and elegance to suit all different occasions. As time went on, leather parts, thick quality cotton, metal details and a mix of carefully selected colors were put together and became the foundation of the new brand named after its predecessor, Gaston Luga."

I decided to go for Pråper - Navy & Brown for my review. Look at the picture from the website, how beautiful it is! What attracted me to this particular design is not just the unique color combination (not too masculine nor too feminine) it is the simplicity of its overall look.

I have mentioned earlier that as a busy mum with 4 kiddos, I really prefer using items that can pack as much items as possible as I'm often on the move with 4 kiddos. Now let's move on to the close-up pictures of the features on the backpack...

I had initially worried about the metal hooks as a mean to secure the backpack as I thought how can such a simple hook be able to keep the backpack flap secured and closed?! But boy oh boy, this backpack proves me wrong! I absolutely adored the strong metal hooks which is adjustable with 4 levels to suit my current packing need, even with a lot of stuff packed into the backpack I normally use the top 2 levels for the metal hook. It is so easy to hook and unhook, even with a single hand (believe me, with 4 kiddos around, I always have to carry one of younger kiddos so to be able to access the backpack with 1 hand is awesome news for me!)

Gaston Luga

The shoulder straps are expandable though I adjusted mine to the shortest (due to my 5' 3" height, I prefer my backpack snug to my body size). The dimensions of the backpack in cm is 30 x 42 x 15, I personally feel the size is just right for me. There is a passport pocket at the back of the backpack but because I am travelling with my family when I use the backpack, there's a total of 6 passports for us, so I can't use this pocket to store our bulky passports. I did keep some small plastic bags in this pocket.

Gaston Luga

There is an inner 13-15" laptop compartment as well as 2 smaller inner pockets inside the backpack which I used to store some disposable diapers, snacks and medicines for our kiddos. I also packed in some change of clothings as well as 2 water tumblers (around 1l and 1.5l in sizes). There is also portable fan as well as nursing covers for my toddler. Picture below shows how the backpack looks like, all stuffed for our family trip to Bangkok in late April 2018.

Gaston Luga

Yet, with so many things inside, I can still stuff in more things. Sometimes I wonder whether the backpack is some sort of black hole or something! Below are some rare pictures of yours truly using the backpack during our Bangkok travel. Right side picture is taken when we took the river boat to Koh Kret, a small man-made island in the Chao Phraya River, just north of Bangkok. Check out the water splashed on the backpack, no problem at all as it dries up real fast and doesn't affect the contents of my backpack.

Gaston Luga

To sum up my review, I absolutely enjoyed using this backpack!

Thank you Gaston Luga for the opportunity given to try out your awesome backpack!
