Tandem Nursing at 3 months...

Wow! I can't believe it's been 3 months since I started my tandem nursing journey!

It's been a bitter sweet journey, of course I had to struggle and battle the negative emotions at the beginning stage, but thank God, I have found support from my husband and through my many bloggy friends. Thank you all for helping me get through it!

In the beginning, Ben wanted to nurse when he saw me nursing Alyson. I then got to limit down his nursing to twice a day, before his afternoon naptime and before bedtime at night. I will either be tandem nursing them both (Ben on my left, Alyson on my right) or I'll let my hubby take care of Alyson in the next room or I'll nurse her until she's asleep and then spend the time with Ben before he sleeps and asked for his feed.

3 months on, Ben is down to nursing once a day most of the time, which is before his bedtime at night. I don't know how we eliminated the afternoon feed, it just happened. One moment I was nursing Alyson and I told Ben to watch his Fireman Sam video on my iPad while I nursed Alyson, next moment I found him asleep already. It happened a few more times after that and Ben is no longer on his afternoon feed.

As for bedtime, Ben nowadays will tell me 'OK time to sleep!' and I will get ready and then he will tell me 'This side!' (pointing to my right breast) which I'm taking the advantage of that to teach him the difference on left and right. He will then nurse while I talk gently to him, telling him what he has done good and bad for the day and that he should and should not do anymore and we pray and thank God for the day and so on.

I will then tell him 'OK, enough' after a few minutes, to which he will normally tell me 'Last only!' meaning he wants another go at the nursing as a last time and I will usually relent and let him nurse a bit more and then when I tell him 'OK, enough' again, he will unlatched and tell me 'Mummy hug Ben-ben' to which I of course, will hug and cuddle next to him and we will keep quiet and he will fall asleep after that.

I love these moments! I'm not sure how long our tandem nursing journey will last, I will cherish it while it lasts!

Book Review - Healthy Eating for Kids (Trevor Dumbleton)

~ Posted on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 2:40 PM ~

Here is my review for the "Healthy Eating for Kids" book:

Title: Healthy Eating for Kids
Author: Trevor Dumbleton

 ASIN:  B005UPPHA8
File Size: 314kb

 Format: Kindle edition

Description from the product page:
""Healthy Eating for Kids" was written with the busy family in mind. Most recipes can be prepared in 15 minutes or less, which is less time than you might spend waiting in line for a hamburger and fries.

The recipes in "Healthy Eating" also come in kid-sized portions. If your child is a picky eater and refuses to eat the dinner that you are preparing for the rest of the family, you will be able to whip up a healthy alternative in minutes. On the other hand, if you would like to make a "Healthy Eating" recipe for the whole family, it is simple to do, since it is far easier to multiply the recipe than it is to sort out the portions for just one person.

60 fun and healthy recipes in six different categories, including:
* Snacks
* Drinks
* Lunch at Home
* Packed Lunches for School
* Evening Meals at Home
* Desserts

Each recipe is designed to include the vitamins, minerals, and macronutrients that your child needs to stay healthy, strong, focused, and energetic. We've put an emphasis on ideas that:
* Are healthy
* Contain nutrients that are difficult to add to a child's diet
* Fast and easy for parents to make
* Use ingredients that most households have on hand
* Encourage your child to get involved with his or her own nutrition "

This is a very easy and simple recipes book to refer to when you want to make healthy food for your children. The recipes are categorised under: Snacks, Drinks, Lunches (at home / packed to school), Evening Meals and Desserts.

I like the easy to read format where each recipe is covered in 1 page. I also like the additional remarks and/or tips at the end of each recipe.

Room for Improvements?

* I would prefer if the book includes recipes for breakfast as well

* I also noticed some of the font sizes are different in some pages, maybe it's just my weird preferance for everything to be standardised.

You can get this book from Amazon.

Classy Sunglasses

~ Posted on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 6:03 PM ~

I started wearing glasses when I was 12 years old and coming from a lower class income family, we could not afford to get expensive or branded glasses. As long as it serves the purposes of making me see clearly and cost cheap, then it is good enough. Back then, there's no such thing as buying glasses according to your face frame and so on.

And then when I started working and could afford better glasses, I did get myself one of those UV protection glasses since I work in the IT line, but I am still skeptical and hesitant with getting sunglasses. I mean,  to me, sunglasses is a nice to have accessories, not a necessity. Back then it's either you get a clip-on sunglasses (which I did once) or get a separate sunglasses with prescription (which I never did) and that is expensive (for me).

Until now, I've never own a sunglasses in my life (except for that clip-on one that I mentioned) though I am curious and often throw the occasional glances of curiosity towards those designer sunglasses on display in the optical eyewear shops.

Nowadays, there are so many types of sunglasses available. Just when I thought that it's not easy to shop for a sunglasses online, I came across http://www.glasses.com, a website that sells many types of sunglasses, lenses and heck, the coolest thing is they even have this virtual try-on widget on their website which allows you to 'try' their product virtually. You just need to upload a photo of yours and go on a frenzy try-outs!

What do you think?

So what are your thoughts on sunglasses and will you buy them online?
