iPad App Review - Oh, the Pets You Can Get!

~ Posted on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 11:07 AM ~

My 3.5 years old boy loves animals! Everytime we walked past a pet shop, he will stop us and dragged us in to have a look. Fishes, rabbits, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, cats, everything! So when I received an email pitch on this app, I immediately requested to review it. Without further ado, here goes my feedback...

"Playful puppies, purring kittens, and flying birds bring the pages to life as children learn about animal behavior and how to keep pets happy and healthy. Look for information cards from Thing 1 and Thing 2 which teach pet safety, and find out more about each animal by tapping on instant glossary words throughout the story.

* It is engaging and interactive and I love that we can also touch the objects in each page on the screen and the words pop out to tell you what it is!

* I like the storyline where it teaches us how to care for animals and pets, in fact, there are some pages which I particularly enjoyed as I feel the tips given can be apply to our daily life as well.

* For example, at the picture below (top right), it says that we should not let any pets play with string as it can get tangled. I used this opportunity to remind my boy that not just animals, little children and us adults should not play with strings and ropes without practising cautions and safety.

* Another example is the picture above (bottom left) which mentioned that we need understanding and patience when our pets make mistakes. I feel this particularly rings the truth even for us as parents that we should be understanding and have patience with our own children especially when they make mistakes! I totally love this app!

* I also used the opportunity to educate my boy on how we should handle our pets and what type of foods they eat everyday. I also enjoyed the extra tips and facts about the animals as I find myself learning new things too!

iPad App Review - What Doesn't Belong? Christmas Edition

~ Posted on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 12:49 PM ~

When I first received the email pitch to review this newly released app, I was thinking whether I can try this with my 3.5 years old boy as I would like to test his skills in whether he is able to find the different object/picture. Without further ado, here goes my feedback...

* Size: 397 MB
* Language: English

Description from the product page:

"Simply beautiful and fun educational brain teaser game for small and big kids. The object of "What Doesn't Belong" is to guess which of the six images does not belong & explain why it doesn't. Each level of 70 was created with the idea in mind of how it can benefit the child. To make a game outcome more effective play it together with your children. Before choosing the image which is out of place ask children why this is the case. "

* This app allows you to create more than 1 player and this is good as we can select our own names before starting the game.

* Game play wise, oh boy! To be honest, even I have some difficulties in finding which image is different from the rest in certain levels! Surprisingly, some of the levels which I can't solve, yet my 3.5 years old boy is able to solve it!

* I like the idea of this game in which we have to study the 6 images shown in each level and identify the different one out. It really takes some deep thought and analysing in order to get the right one!

* This is a wonderful app that not only helps in your analytical skills, it also helps the bonding with your child as you play the game with them!

Product Review - Gofavor.com

~ Posted on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 12:20 PM ~

I received an email pitch from Gofavor  asking whether I would be interested to review some of their products and since they are OK with international bloggers, I proceeded to choose a few products of my choice from their website for my review! I was initially given the chance to choose 3 jewelry items from their product range but I managed to negotiate to review a clothing item and a jewelry item instead as I prefer to try more clothing items nowadays.

My feedback will be based on the 2 items I received for my review. Shipping by the way is fast and the customer service is excellent. I was given a tracking code in case I want to track the status and updates of my parcel.

1) Fashion Cross Pendant Chain Necklace

Gofavor.com

I choose this necklace because I have always wanted a simple necklace with a plain small cross. The length of the necklace chain is a bit short for me too so it feels kind of tight, I prefer to wear necklace around 40cm length. As for the cross pendant, I like that it is simple looking and not too eye catching. Suits me just nice.

2) Sleeveless Round Neck Striped T-shirt Top

Gofavor.com

I chose this sleeveless cotton top as I like free size clothes and remembering some fashion tips I read sometime ago, horizontal stripes clothing makes a person look fatter (yes, I want to look fatter please!) and I like the Ferrari red color on this top as well. The top is light and the front is cotton while the back is chiffon-like material.

I was a bit surprised actually to see the back of the top as it is quite transparent and it does show your bra straps if you did not wear a camisole or light singlet underneath. When I checked back at the product page, I realised the model is wearing a camisole underneath. But in any case, I love this top and will definitely wear it again, with a camisole underneath of course!

In summary, the products are gorgeous, affordable and the company provides good shipping options especially for worldwide buyers but you do need to check the product description properly to ensure that the product is of good quality and practical.
