Fancy a Short Break?

~ Posted on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 5:13 PM ~

I wrote before that being a SAHM, one of the things I look forward to is taking a short break from home, to be away with my family on a holiday. Just in case you don't know, beign a SAHM is a hectic and tiring job, being stuck at home all day, 24 hours, 7 days a week and 365 days a year and now that I've begun teaching my 3.5 years old boy makes it even more appealing to take short breaks more often!

Currently, we normally go to family-friendly and near to the places of interests particularly beach area and with lots of good places with delicious food to eat! But we are planning to look for forest area for our next short break, possibly sometime after the new year since our latest family trip is just 2 weeks ago. Yeah, some kind of new year breaks would be awesome.

Why forest area? If you have been following my blog, you would remember I bought a survival kit for my hubby's birthday this year. He is very into survival preparation and readiness and would really love to try it out in as close scenario and environment as possible, hence the forest / jungle area. So I have been checking out websites locally on family-friendly camping areas which are comfortable for our 2 kids to be in while still be able to allow my husband to try out his knowledge and tools. Will update you guys more often if this plan materialises.

What about you? Do you want to take a short break too?

Covering Up Your Boat

~ Posted on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 3:59 PM ~

A few months ago, we went on a weekend holiday with our brother and sister in law and their family members. We stayed for a night at Avillion Resort Hotel Port Dickson and it was the first time my kids get to see so many boats at close-up range.

I remembered thinking to myself that all these boats were harbored at the jetty and most of them are not being used, heck, I think most likely these boats are being used only when the owners are available to take holidays or rest days to use them...

Now I don't think I'm qualified to advice much since I don't own a boat but I think if you are not using your boat, the owner or caretakers should at least cover up their boat right? In Malaysia, we get sunshine and rain all year long so I think the benefits of getting your boat covered up is to prevent mold and mildew which can be damaging to the boat's interior and decreasing the overall value of the boat as well. And also salt water is corrosive so long-term exposure to the boat can also result in serious damage to the boat's motor.

I was just browing around and came across the EmpireCovers website and noticed the many selections on EmpireCovers which one can look through before deciding to purchase a boat cover to protect their boat. I think this is a cool website as you can actually shop for the boat covers by the model, make, year and so on.

Do you have any tips to share on this topic?

Professors can also give your valuable job interview tips that work for your potential employers.

3. Recruit those who already have jobs
Pride can seem like a great thing to have. Indeed, you need to be proud with your life’s mission. However, to get work, you need to swallow your pride. Keep your pride off limits and ask those people already with jobs to help you search for one. Naturally, people who are already working have a higher preview for new opportunities that may suit you.

4. Social media and internet
The social media and the internet are amassed with numerous opportunities. You need to leverage their prominence to grow your career. Make social professional profiles on sites like LinkedIn and Twitter. They can make your job hunting faster, targeted and more effective.

Truth is if you are graduating now, there are little opportunities for you. When the going gets tougher, you shouldn’t despair. Many new graduates feel disillusioned according to experts. This should not be the case. Be hopeful that your search efforts will be repaid in full eventually. Keep searching. Being positive and hopeful is the least you can do if you want to succeed.
