LEGOLAND Brick-Tacular celebration

~ Posted on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 12:24 AM ~

As a busy mum with 5 kiddos between 2 to 11-years old, I have already cut down on doing product reviews since the beginning of this year to focus on my childcare and family life, home cooking, education, helping with hubby's administration site of the business and occasionally sharing informational articles on my FB fan page.

Now, our family has always been a big fan of all things LEGO, so when I received an invitation to attend the LEGOLAND Brick-Tacular celebration with my family, how can I say no?! After all, it is coming to the year-end and we have all been safely staying home due to the CMCO. After getting positive feedbacks from friends who have visited LEGOLAND recently, we quickly arranged for our trip down south so that we can catch the show on time!

Just a quick info on the LEGOLAND Brick-Tacular celebration, this year, LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort will be transformed into the Candyland of your dreams. The resort will also be extending their operating hours on the weekends (Fridays to Sundays) so that everyone can have extra time to enjoy their annual BrickTacular celebration. We are lucky to fully maximise our visiting ours there during our Saturday to Monday stay at LEGOLAND Hotel.

The resort was like a giant Candyland, everywhere you go, you're bound to see candy canes, lollies and more! We enjoyed hunting for Gingerbread Man in the MINILAND as well as being mesmerised by the beautiful decorations around the resort!

My children were so engrossed at watching the LEGO Friends performance on stage! Even I couldn't resist dancing and swaying around to the songs! It was also cool to see LEGOLAND staff giving out Christmas hats for the children around the center stage area. Everything is awesome!

We also made it a point that it's a MUST to visit SEA LIFE Malaysia! I'm impressed with the strict SOP of social distancing and keeping the hygiene of the guests. We also noticed some cute lollies and candies around some exhibits!

I feel safe and assured walking around the resort as you can see staff getting guests to sanitize their hands before and after each rides. There are also staff walking around the resort to sanitize the park, benches and etc. Hand sanitisers devices can be found everywhere and signs to remind you to practise social distancing as well can be seen everywhere. Kudos to LEGOLAND Malaysia for this initiative and effort!

Even at the LEGOLAND Hotel Bricks Restaurant, you can see that the staff are strict and rules are being adhered to by guests too. Instead of going around, taking your own sweet time to choose your food selections, you practically do the same but line up one by one at a safe distance, when it's your turn, you walk up to the counter and give your food order to the staff in-charge and they will scoop and get your dish and food portion as per your order. I also like the table covering during our dinner at the Bricks Restaurant. My children get their own Lego crayons and immediately proceed to choose their own activities - connecting the dots, finding the differences, complete the maze, words search and more!

If you are planning to visit LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, do keep a lookout for character appearances throughout the park as well as joining in the fun in the activities provided. We managed to take pictures with the Toy Soldier mascot as well as Lego Pirate in our hotel.

Overall, we really enjoyed our trip this round and looking forward to visiting LEGOLAND Malaysia again in the near future!

My Robot Vacuum Cleaner

~ Posted on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 5:51 PM ~

Confession.

I am a tad stingy person, hence will not spend a big sum of money on gadgets and stuff, but I do admit I have always been intrigued with this robot vacuum gadget. Yes, the price is quite shocking to my wallet.

I'm sure my dear hubby wouldn't mind buying one for me but again, the stingy (or we Chinese called it 'kiam-siap') part of me just can't stomach the thought of spending so much money on gadgets like this.

I do sweep, clean and mop our floor everyday. But with 5 children at home most of the time, churning out eraser shavings from their homework, cutting papers for their crafts and producing dirt everywhere, it is impossible to keep the floors spic and span clean 100% of the time, you know!

Anyway, I do buy a lot of stuff online. I believe that I'm a sensible online shopper who knows how to compare prices and checking available and credible customers' reviews first before buying anything.

So when I saw this little gadget on sale, I thought 'Why not? I think I deserve a little Mothers' Day treat' so I ordered it! Without letting my hubby know of course LOL

There's 2 colours available, naturally I chose the black one as it looks more sleek compared to the white one. Also partly because white will be easier to notice if it is dirty or scratched.

What I like about this gadget is, of course, the PRICE. It makes my wallet less whiny at RM32.40 (less than USD7.50). I also like the fact that it can be charged using USB cable.

One thing that I must tolerate is the noise from this little gadget. Quite noisy but I guess it is better than my wallet whining sound hehehe... Anyway, according to the product description, you charge this gadget for 40 minutes and it will run around sucking up dirts and stuff for 40 minutes.

My hubby had a good laugh the first time he saw my robot vacuum cleaner! Darn it! He thought I bought a gigantic robot vacuum cleaner that he normally sees other people having. I told him, repeated to him that I bought a cheap-a** gadget of course it will not be a gigantic size gadget!

So anyway, I just turn on the vacuum cleaner while my children have their tea-time break. This way, EVERYONE is out of the area where this gadget works and won't end up tramping on it and I just occasionally retrieve it to remove the dirt it has gathered.

It has so far faithfully sucked up paper pieces, hair, dust, eraser shavings, even garlic peels! Our 3-year-old boy helped me to peel garlic every now and then and leaves garlic skins on the floor unknowingly.

So very easy to operate this gadget and no need to worry about getting batteries yada yada.

At such a price, I really have no regrets so far!

Choose Your Own Adventure Books

~ Posted on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:44 AM ~

I like to get books for my kiddos. If the topics are too advanced, I will read it to them during bedtime otherwise whenever I noticed any particular interests from them in any topics, I will try to get the books to further ignite their fire. My personal opinion is to ignite my kiddos' reading passion, we have to make books available to them easily. And I honestly think my strategy works for our kiddos!

Anyway, I was telling our kiddos months ago that I used to read this type of books during my early teenage years, whereby after we read a certain page, there are options available at the bottom for the reader to choose to do this or that. If you choose this option, you will be directed to a page to continue on from the option you make, so on and so forth until you reach the end of the story from your many decisions made along the way.

I told my kiddos it was so intriguing that while reading a book, we can also play a part in it by making our own decision, choosing our own paths and then see how our decisions affects the direction of the stories. They were curious and seem excited there is such books available. Little did they realised that mummy also want them to be able to apply these techniques in their real life too. To choose wisely, and cause-effect-consequences.

So I set out to search and scour the website for such books and found them! Now since I'm in Malaysia, the options are quite limited to order online. Amazon doesn't cater shipping to Malaysia for quite a lot of books so I always go to my reliable backup option which is The Book Depository.

After much research and price comparing of the many books titles available, I settled for the "Choose Your Own Adventure Books 1-6: Box Set". I felt it was the most value for money and has the interesting titles which I think will be suitable for my kiddos.

These books just arrived after over 1 month of waiting (I’m in Malaysia). Ordered on 30th July 2019, books were dispatched from UK on 2nd August 2019 and finally arrived on 21st Sept 2019.

Kiddos are so excited and looking forward to bedtime to hear the story!! I'm excited too! Yayyyy!!!

Below are some of the books I got for my kiddos so far... you can see the theme/genre goes from classic comics to educational magazines, and then to illustrated chapter books and comics with more words and in other languages (local comics by Lat)
